door rattle / poor service

Guys,
I've reported service issues several times on this forum. I've taken it up witn the dealer too. But things have not improved even after several personal assurances from the GM service.

I then escalated the matter with M&M. The vehicle was inspected and minor repairs were carried out under the supervision of a senior Engineer from M&M. However workmanship issues still remain. Solutions provided are temporary in nature and they come back after a few days.

I've now asked for a permanent solution for the Door rattle problem from M&M. It is perfectly within my rights and obligatory on their part to provide me the solution.

I've written to the customer care head Mr. Sanjoy Gupta for the same.
I would like to pursue the matter with M&M to a logical conclusion.

Please let us know if others have also faced the Door Rattle problem.

I did face the door rattling problem. Infact many others on this forum also did face that problem and the solution was probably the replacement of a "Door Catcher".

In my case however, I did nto get any catcher changed. After 2 repeated feedback, they did work on it and it mysteriously disappeared there-on by itself.

I have the metal catcher on my Logan. They've already taped it up, when I first reported the rattle. I've spoken to the service engineers at the workshop. They say most Logans have this door rattle problem.
The remedy applied is called 'door setting'.
I am not sure what that means. But I've seen the mechanics go at the Lock bolts with a palm size allen key on what seems like M6 allen bolts.

The cure abviously is temporary. For the ratle comes back after a few days.
I am sure a permanent solution is not impossible. I trust Indian Engineers to find one.

But it is definitely not a service issue. A recurring issue with a particular model, calls for a permanent remedy. And the remedy needs to be found by the Mahindra development engineers. And all Logan owners need to be offered the solution without any extra cost.

I would like to pursue this. I am in touch with Pune M&M service head, Mr. Vaibhav and Mr. Ashutosh. I've written to Mr. Sanjoy Gupta, the Custoner Care head, M&M who works from his Worli office.

I've also written to the Internal Audit Head, Mr. Mario Nazareth, about process flaws at their service centers. If need be I am prepared to escalate this further.

If anybody wants to know reasons for my dissatisfaction with M&M service, I can forward the minutes of the meeting that I had with Mr. Vaibhav about poor service issues.

I want to do this because , It is within my rights to demand a solution and also because I simply love the Logan and akways looking for an excuse to go for long drive on my Logan. I believe the car deserves much better...

Just got a call from the service center.
They are offering to replace all the Door Latches.

It seems there are new door latches that are teflon coated. These should solve the rattle problem it seems.

Has anybody used the Teflon coated Door Latches before ?

I think my car already has the teflon coated latches.
Lemme go down and get a pic.

I had the white latches initially. Had horrible rattling.

They changed it to these dark colored ones (dunno if they were teflon coated). And nothing positive happened. It was the same.

Again, they changed it to the metal ones.. after this (1.5 years) the issue has not occurred again.

If you have the issue even after getting the metal latches fixed, the problem might not be with the latches..

I am not sure about whether the teflon coating helps. As I mentioned earlier, the rattling in my car vanished mysteriously.

Only left side doors have some rattling problem now. i don't want all doors to start rattling after changing the latches !

Ask them if these are some new latches.. or if it is the same thing that was there a year back. Maybe it depends on the workmanship too.. rather than just the parts.

My car is a November 2008 model and I've had these latches since I got it.

Well.. the black ones are not the teflon coated ones.
Mahindra changed all four Door Kit and latch under warranty.

They showed me the pack.. it had 'Modified Door Kit and Latch' writen on it. Seems these are the ones coated with teflon. Not sure it has any more design modification carried out. The kit consisted of the lock assembly and the latch.

For now the rattle is gone. They have also provided some PU foam packing for the front door latch release arm inside ( the steel rod tyhat connects the handle and the lock mechanism ). this bit was still rattling inside. This packing job is still not proper. But it's a minor one and I can perhaps do it myself.

I have solved this problem with two layers of insulating tape which has wound over this black plastic bushing
