| I did about 435 kms driving from Pune to Diveagar / Harihareshwar and back. Must have been more that 60% ghat section. About 60% Ac. Mostly bad roads. I got 15 kms/ltr on the DIS. Great drive along the sea from Diveagar to Harihareshwar. Amazing ghat sections on the konkan belt. No beach shacks, no shops... lone guy with a tea kettle selling tea on the Diveagar beach ! The Logan did extremely well on bad to very bad roads. Reafirms my faith in the vehicle... absolute pleasure driving it.... enjoyed spicy konkan food too !!! | |

Its spanned over a period of 2 weeks. Will be driving to all these places Mumbai -> Bengaluru -> Tirupati -> Tirumala -> Salem -> Thrissur -> Guruvayoor -> Cochin -> Allepey -> Kannur -> Kollur -> Goa -> Mumbai. And extra KM's to visit places over there. Lets see if i manage to get my leave on time Hoping the climate and the roads to be good. I have chosen reputed highways to travel for road safety and even if i detour, it wont trouble me much Planning to avoid late night/midnight driving as it would be my first trip outside Maharashtra.

Planning to avoid late night/midnight driving as it would be my first trip outside Maharashtra. Invest in some sort of GPS navigation. Simplest is to atleast have Google Maps tracking your location with a GPS enabled phone. I can assure you that the confidence with which you can continue on a long dark deserted road is very comforting. Also look up www.gpsed.com, I have downloaded an app that record my track, which can be either uploaded LIVE to your account on their website, or stored on your phone to be uploaded at your leisure.

| Logan 1.6GLX, I checked the mileage for 30Litres of Petrol.Mileage before the servicing was ~14KM with 50% AC. But my driving was controlled with rpm never exceeding 2000 and speed generally in the range of 60~70 KMPH. I will be going the 1st long trip tomorrow. i.e. Pune-Nasik. 220 KM one way. I'll update the long distance mileage after coming back. | |

| Hi,
If you want to check the mileage, please use the following procedure. This will give you the best possible figure for mileage.
1) Just before the start of your journey, fill up your tank completely and set the trip meter to zero. 2) Once you have completed your journey, again fill up your tank completely and note the trip meter reading at that point of time. 3) Now you calculate the mileage bu the following method.
Total Distance recorded in the trip meter/total fuel required for full tank at the completion of your journey.
This method will give you the most accurate figures for mileage.
Regards,
Kaustuv. | |

Yes I am looking out for a GPS solution, checked on some dirt cheap Chinese ones in a recent china exhibition here, but was not impressed with them though. Are any GPS system available in market which works on Google Maps (without GPRS/EDGE). I prefer GPS on mobile phone as I could use it even when am traveling without my car, but it seems the maps only work with GPRS/EDGE and am weary of the situation where in there is no mobile network coverage and am lost . Can u tell me the name of the bluetooth GPS receiver you are using? Also needed your view points on buying an electric air pump, do they work? how much will they cost? and are they worth? The car is stock till now with not a single penny spent on accessories and electronics, didnt get time to pamper it , wanted suggestions as to whether i should buy front fog lamps before the journey? Thanks

The problem is the level of Full tank, we can even fill 60 Litres of fuel in the tank, which again confuses the calculation of the mileage. This is why for checking mileage, you have to fill up at the same pump (not just bunk) and use auto-cut-off. And since you are only calculating the difference, it doesn't matter how full the tank actually was.

Thanks The problem with standalone GPS solutions is 1)navigation software especially for India is still quite inadequate anyway for small towns and villages. Atleast with Google maps we get a general sense of where we are, anytime 2) Compatibility of any China-made hardware with our Indian roads navigation software
