I think you are fine... your mileage will open up after the first and really do good after the 2nd service... beware.. lots of people claim lots of numbers.. many do it on their diesel.. so dont get peeved... remember you are driving a sedan, within a crowded indian city with at best decent roads.. so anything above 12-13kmpl should make you happy .. but only after you cross the 1.5k - 2k mark

As u said, I am not expecting anything more than 10-11 kmpl with A/C in city driving.
The car is a very good purchase, although I was discouraged by many to not go for it....
I have couple of other concerns:-
1. There is a metallic creaking sound from the left door 2. I can sometimes hear the sound from beneath the car of the petrol sloshing...is it OK?

Thanks sAuMil, that was a good one. The tips are great, just that at times in Delhi's traffic, they do become difficult to follow. However, if one can follow them, one can get good results.
As regards the mileage tests, though I have a petrol 1.6, yet I fully endorse the findings. This car can indeed surprise its owner with its frugality!

agree on all counts.. Romeo, after having driven in Bangalore for years, i find Delhi roads heavenly... i can bet my you-know-what that you take your or my Logan 1.6 to Bangalore and it will drop a couple of KMs rom the KMPL sheet immediately.. it still would be better than most other 1.6Petrols any day though

I became Loganian on 3rd Jan and on my first trip from Dhanbad, JH to Durgapur, WB (100km) I got 16.8 kpl @ 83 kmph avg speed.
In city I'm getting 13.x . I'm satisfied as I tend to compare it from my friend's Accent which never goes beyond 10 kpl in city.
It was a good decision to buy Logan.

We are regularly getting an FE of 17 to 19 kpl in Coimbatore city condition with full AC in our Logan 1.5DLS. The highway figure is similar with speeds of above 120kph. And at speeds less than 100 kph, it gives around 21kpl. I once did a mileage run at 11.30pm and achieved 31.1kpl. Took a video of it too. The run lasted for 19.9kms. The traffic was less but still it is not standard driving conditions. Will try to upload the video soon. Can someone tell me, how to upload video?

Hi every one! I took my Logan for a mileage run. The total distance was 19.9 kms. Time around 11.30PM. The traffic was less but still this is not a standard test. I had to change gears, overtake trucks entering city at night, speed breakers, flyovers, etc... I was alone in the car with AC on. I took the video after stopping, so the average speed is coming down.

Reposted one of my mileage runs video as embedded ... after Saumil's useful tip!
This was achieved in a similar 19km run at night in a 1.4L Petrol
4.4 LHK is 100/4.4KPL = 22.7KPL
Efficiency but you must also notice the 92kmph max speed during this mileage run!!! So no sacrificing speed for mileage either!
Unrecorded, similar distance run achieving 3.1LHK also = 32KPL!! should have videoed that as well, but ... !

I mentioned already that it was taken around 11.30PM . The backlight color change might be because of my Nokia 5310 XM, which has a very poor camera What i did actually was light foot driving, analysing the traffic carefully and making all my moves. At that time only all trucks enter the city. I stayed around 60-70kph speed and tried hard to maintain momentum. The road was narrow, on some places it is not possible to overtake. So more gearshifts and some hard acceleration to overtake trucks.

I run a Logan GLE ... so no onboard mileage computer. What I use is a ScanGauge II, plugged into the OBDII socket in the glove compartmemt.
It is a plug-and -play unit, very compact , and can give me a lot more info about the vehicle, either as a realtime live instaneous data, or data for a current trip, or for today's usage, or yesterday;s usage or since my last tank fillup. Also it can read, diagnose and clear any engine fault lights that may occur. And it is Mahindra Renault Logan compatible!!! Most other cars on the indian roads do not have the fully compliant OBDII socket.
So all in all, a huge chunk of information, available in a unit that can fit in the palm of your hand ... costed approx US$170 from USA ... about Rs7500. But all well worth the expense. It has changed my driving style so extensively, it paid for itself in 6 months in petrol savings!

Mileage figures which i read here all around makes me nervous. My 1.4 GLX is 3000 kms old. first service done. I have normally driven it with A.C. ON. In Ahmedabad one can rarely go beyond 3rd gear. At the most 4th gear. 70% of city driving consists of shifts between 2nd and 3rd.
having said the background i get 11.3 kmpl in city which goes further to 13 kmpl on highway. this is way too low as per what i read here. some where i read 32 kmpl.
where do you get all these kmpl? i am not getting anything even near to that .
i want to know is there any issue with my kmpl figures.
however i am very proud of my logan and almost in love with it.

Left Door creaking is standard noise which starts in all Logans once they have done some 1000 - 1500 kms. Service center guys will remove it successfully.
In new Logans specially petrol ones first time when the ignition is turned ON one can hear some fluid (seems to be petrol) passing from somewhere in the car. As a matter of fact i used to like this noise as it made me feel even more proud. However now it has vanished and does not come any more.

I own a 1.4 GLX. Before the 1st service i used to get a sense that it is actually a diesel engine. It sounded that way specially with A.C on. also there was a strange feeling every time i pressed the accelerator as if something is stopping my machine from being cruised in air. Though I was able to achieve 140 kms. at around 5000 rpms on Udaipur - Ahmedabad highway, full throttle, i was not satisfied. After 1st service things changed. Accelarator pedal got feather light. Engine Diesel like sounds vanished. top speed increased. I did 165 kms. around 5200 rpms and machine was ready to go for more. However i hesistated going further and limited my test there satisfying myself to full extent as if i had driven a Lamborghini.
Mileage is an issue which i have.
with A.C. or without A.C. has made no difference so far.
In city i get around 11.4 and on highway i get around 13 max.
I drive normally in city without pressing too hard and at the same time without making any efforts so as to save on fuel.
