Good performance in highway

Hi,

I am using a Logan GLX1.6 for the past one year and have driven 25,000+ kms covering both highway as well as city. As per as my observation goes, it is more suited for a highway drive compared to the city. I have got an average mileage close to 17 in highway and in the city it varies between 10 to 12 kms/lt. Although, for a 1.6 lts engine 85 BHP is somewhat less but you can get a decent acceleration and speed with proper gear shift.

I have driven considerable distances in the himalayas covering Darjeeling, Gangtok, Peling and Kalimpomg, the max altitute being 7500 ft above sea level. Till now, the performance has been satisfactory. I will definitely try more difficult stretches to test the limits.

To sum it up, the suspension is excellent, it will never let you feel the bad road below. Stability is good, so is the ground clearence.You can never expect good stretches all throughout.Also, you can drive comfortably at 5th gear for long distances due to the gear ratio provided. These things are very important when we go for a highway drive.

But the irritating door noise keep recurring time and again after every highway drive.

I have recently started using Castrol Magnatec and found that the engine has become somewhat smoother with better response.

This is my observation till now. I will post more on this subsequently.

You will notice around the 30000km time that your car is realy run in and will respond even better

i am sure in Romania one cant encounter traffic the way India has.
not only for logan but for any car driving is a pleasure always on highways.

To True Mir I have now the posibility to watch Indian UK Tv and it is amazing the amount of vehicles you have wzzing round the towns and it looks sooooooo un-organised Survival of the quickest I suppose haha

yes it is unorganized. highly unorganized. and it doesnt stop here, no one is even bothered to get it organized.
uglier you drive better you survive, in here.

irony is still guys down here bother for pickup and stuff. seems ridiculous. man there aint any space even to breathe.

Driving in city roads of India is really a pain...not only you will have to manage your car properly but also the other cars in the road...you are not sure of what they can do in the middle of the road:)

as they say, charity begins at home! if each of us put in our bit and improve our driving just that little bit, things will improve by leaps and bounds. a die hard optimist, yes that's me!!

cant agree more with romeo on both his posts in this thread.. most of us in so much hurry to get to God-knows-where we display very scant respect for others on the road...

I have heard from many that Logan1.6 has better average than 1.4 due to optimum gear ratio.

1400 uses less fuel

technically speaking, personally i feel
1.6 will have to be less on the pickup as compared to 1.4, in which case it will provide almost the same mileage.
in cases where 1.6 is tuned for best pickup it is obvious that its mileage will be less than 1.4 as in same amount of time more amount of fuel will be consumed on pistons, which are again of more cubic capacity as compared to 1.4.

overall both 1.4 and 1.6 should give same mileage. however in practical cases 1.6 mileage will be lets say fewer by at the most 1 kmpl in similar conditions as compared to 1.4.

Hi, My Car is giving 14 KMPL in Highway and 12 in City (W/O AC). With AC 12 in HW and 10 in City. What about your car?

I get upto 13.5 in the city based on how lucky I am to not get into traffic jams. With jams and everything it will give me 11.6. AC is always on.

On the highway, if I drive at 120-140 I will get around 15. If I drive between 80-100 I get upto 17.6

My logon has done 6000 + Kms. Pl suggest a way by which i can measure the fuel performance. ( i.e. kms per lt of petrol) I have not reset my DIS. Will the DIS gives correct info ??

This time i took the logan for our annual pilgrimage to goa. Travelled 1290 km in just under 4 days. Logan was good very good infact. Did the first 200 kms on cng and sice i couldnt locate the cng pump in pune, did the rest on petrol.
The ride quality was great. Drove at constant speeds between 100 -140kmph. Very composed even under ghat sections and bad roads after belgaum.
FE was disappointing at 12.7kmpl though most of the time the engine was around 3000 rpm mark and on AC 99% of the time.
We take the safari usually but the safari tyres were not top shape so took logan this time. Wife and kids happy with the space and the ride comfort. i was impressed with driving comfort. No backache surprisingly.
Goa petrol bunks had gone dry , luckily got petrol at Borim on the way to kolva. Petrol cheaper than Mumbai by rs. 7.50/-
All in all a top ride.

well its a rather late reply. but your GLS ( petrol ) car gives 24-25 km on highway and 13-14 kmpl delhi roads.
