| Guys, This is a fact which we all have to live with now. Logan sales are never going to rise in here. I am prepared for the worst. I do not see a single Logan being sold in India by end of this year. Biggest market for this car as i see is the public transport market. This is a big potential for Logan given present circumstances.
Only reason i could gather so far is Indian population has not accepted Renault and Renault has not done anything about this. So it is only Renault who is to be blamed. It needs to pump more mullah in to India and gain visibility thereby gaining public confidence by quite some interesting ads and promos. Mahindra can not be blamed for this as it is the top seller in SUV Indian market space and hence market does believe in Mahindra.
Unlike other countries people in India buy car which they are going to use for centuries together. So they are very cautious buying one and do not want to venture into new streets.
Maruti sales will always be steady and on rise as that is a LEGACY brand in India. Maruti can not be compared with any other brand.

| The basic strategy seems missing here with Mahindra Renault, of gaining peoples attention either by a class product or launch of new products on regular intervals (as Maruti & Hyundai is doing these days). In India people attract towards something new rather than a boring machine.
Its now more than 2 years since Logan launched in Indian market but they did not do anything except some print & TV ads for few days or polishing boring Logan model with some new interiors. Also they cant reduce the cost as it may be a matter of prestige as well for Renault.
If Renault is serious about Indian market then they have to bring in new models like twingo, clio, megan, laguna etc. step by step. MCV market is alaready captured by Mahindra series of MUV's so there is no hope for Logan MCV.
Company trust and word of mouth matters a lot in India than technical details, so they should focus on gaining peoples trust with cost and quality with attraction.
PS: My 1 paisa advice wont do anything, coz they must have all the ideas & experts working on those but we can only keep our fingers crossed for MR JV till we own Logan in future. Most of us from Metro cities where servicing & spares are not a big problem, but I tell you guys problem has already started now from other cities like Lucknow, where spare parts and wuality mechanics are not available. Even spares like a clutch wire is on order only, this is something similar started as earlier happened with Fiat (Palio) customers before TATA buys maintenance and sales. Thats why I tell you to keep your fingers crossed.

| Guys .. lot of new models coming into the market .... a bit of fluctuation in sales figures is expected. Also the recession has had it's impact. The automobile industry i sgoing through uncertain times... also wait for the Nano effect... we niver know what might be in store for lot of us. A good product should always have buyers.. and india is a huge market ... there's space for all kinds of products here... let's hope that Logan lasts out in the long run... i think it should. The following is taken from wikipedia content for dacia Logan: 'The Logan is vital to increasing sales of the Renault group to the 4 million mark by 2010. In markets where Renault has an existing presence, such as European, African and Asian countries (i.e. Romania, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Hungary,Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and many others) it is sold as the Dacia Logan.[6] Exceptions are South Africa, Argentina, Russia, China, Colombia, Egypt, Brazil, Chile (Colombian made), and Venezuela where it is marketed as the Renault Logan. In India, the Logan is marketed as the Mahindra Renault Logan[7] Renault partnering with the Indian utility and commercial vehicles manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. In Mexico, the Logan is sold as the Nissan Aprio, given the better reputation of the Japanese brand in the Mexican market. Nissan Aprio has 1.6-litre 103 bhp 16 valve engine with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.[8] In 2007, Iran also began selling Logan models as Renault Tondar 90[9] by Renault-Pars Co. manufactured in Pars Khodro and Iran Khodro[10] . After a mere month of production, more than 100,000 Tondar 90 have been ordered, even though deliveries will start only in May 2007[11] .' This car has done so well worldwide... it should do well here too. | |

If no new model is being launched this time from Renault stable, this definitely indicates dead end. Let some time pass say 6 to 8 months to come shall be decisive. Guys a bankrupt company like GM is still cashing out of India. Why not Logan?

| makes me feel happy reading such news. gives me a feel thjat renault may want to launch with nissan this time rather than mahindra. i am sure renault nissan launch will be phenomenal. however we need to actually see the launch happening. lets wait and watch. from real dimension, i want to know what members feel about the fact that if renault launches some new model how does it help the now logan owners? below is what i feel, all are requested to share. 1. credibility of logan increases. 2. chances are renault becomes popular and acceptable. 3. resale value of logan may go up, specially in case if the second model launched does well. | |

| I read a news at http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2009/06/23/stories/2009062352020100.htm but found that they are focusing on their Chennai plant or infact waiting for chennai plant to get ready, so that they can produce new models from there. This articles does not say anything about Mahindra & Renault JV, may be their nashik plant is over burden or simply they dont want to go forward with Mahindra. Looking by Renault history I am sure they will comeup again either alone or with their sis concern Nissan, god knows what will happen till 2011 (their plant launch prospetive year). I dont see any benefit for current Logan owners except some resale value increase. | |

| @ezee: you are absolutely correct. nothing goes on mahindra - renault JV. i also get an impression that renault may now be more interested to go ahead with nissan, bajaj JV. even if they do so its good. at least renault stays. again 2011 is too far off. i am not ready to believe that in these times of recession one can plan 2 years ahead. instead of 2011 one should have planned for what now? i seriously feel that the M-R JV is turning out to be a failure. i would say mahindra may not be able to run its own terms with renault and these days mahindra sees itself on top. it launched into 2 wheeler market, it acquired satyam... so mahindra would definitely not be bogged down with renault demands. but in this story they may have overlooked certain realities. | |

| Logan will stay with mahindra's. They are serious in promoting it. Mahindra's believe in this product. This is what I now have started to get a feel.
I am happy with my logan 1.4, It is value for money, surely is better quality then many other Indian manufactured cars. The driver seat comfort is fabulous along with the placement of steering. The seats are firm. The only thing which I feel is lacking is with the zippy-ness of the engine from the word go, which I think I have got used to driving Japanese and Korean cars. Once one gets used to the Logan engine that to goes away. All in all car is a catch it for me.
Now in this short span of owning a Logan what I have faced difficulty is with the dealership. They are not too enthusiastic to sell and not good in after sales. The car one buys might be the car which has been used for test drives. Because of low sales the service advisers are not familiar / or do not have the experience to deal with the car's problems.

| Logan continues to show decline in sales for the month of june as well. Total 501 units sold in comparison to 1351 units in June last year. Although Mahindra for its own brands record a 24% up with almost all major brands recording an upward trends this june with Maruti on top (unit count). | |

| @ezee: I agree with you. Sales have declined since long now. They shall decline even further. Now that we are logan owners, what could be the next logical step in this according to you other then we discuss it on this forum. As such I have accepted the fact that i have an off beat product and all various factors pros / cons including risk factors were known to me right from time of purchase. Just to share so far i am not at all annoyed by Logan and am satisfied. I suppose all logan owners would have done the same when they purchased it. If there are some who have not, it is high time for them to know ground reality and adapt their minds accordingly. Logan is not going to do any miracles in India. Also i dont think we should even expect it to do so. However i am still concerned or rather curious with its future in India. I dont believe that we can in any major way contribute to the market sales. | |

Am sure chevrolet is not doing too well with it's sedans. Honda city is in a different price bracket. wonder which are the other mid size cars in Logan's price bracket ?
