| Subject: Advice on battery for Logan 1.4 ltr Fri Jan 25, 2013 11:20 pm | |
| Hello, I have a petrol Logan (1.4 ) and would like to know the battery requirement as it is time to change the same after 4 years. The one that I am currently running on is the company fitted Exide freedom 60 amps. battery. Ironically there is no mention of the battery in the hand book as regards to the amperes the petrol or diesel vehicle needs. Pardon my ignorance if the voltage requirements is mentioned in the handbook please guide me to the relevant chapter.
Would like to change over to Amron, please guide me as which should bought as the equivalent 60 amps in Amron is not available with any dealer. Called up the Amron help line and they guided me to a dealer who did not have the 60 amps battery but had a 55 amps battery and he informed me it shall not make a difference at all if I had 5 amps less power.
Question him as to why did the company offer 60 amps battery then to which he says it must be for the margins that they earn when they use the Exide battery. The car manufacturer must have something in mind when they offered 60 amps.
What do you guys feel should I go with the 55 amps battery would it do any damage to the alternator or give problems to the vehicle while cranking etc… Please help as I need to change the battery asap as it has already started giving way. One of the battery terminal has started to shake and I can see green deposits around the terminal.
Thanks and best regards,
Siddharth

| Its better to replace the stock battery rating. I replaced mine with sf sonic battery, http://www.sfsonicpower.com
Its been almost a year now since replacement. Going without any issues. They have 2yr replacement warranty and then exchange discount options for the next 3-5yrs. Its also cheaper compared to the other ones.
Mine is diesel one. As far as I remember I bought the 60din one for about Rs6500 after giving them my old stock battery. | |
