| HI, I have a 2008 1.5 DCI Logan..since the cd player that came with it is just an audio cd player, I have been using an fm transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket to play mp3s from my USB, for over an year. A few weeks back the car started showing starting troubles, and on checking, the worskshop man told the cars battery is weak and it needs to be replaced..i bought a new exide battery for 7k... Now i have stopped using the fm transmitter... Is it bcuz of the transmitter that the battery failed...or is it the usual life time of a battery...i have clocked over 36000km so far.. I would like to use a bluetooth adapter form the cig lighter socket..can i do that without inviting a battery failure again? |

| Any idea as to how long the battery si supposed to last....i don't think 2 years is such a long time for the battery to become weak.....i have been using the fog lamps regularly...may b thats also one of the reasons...rt nw am little wary of plugging anything into the socket.............. |

| The OEM battery is Exide and their quality is always suspect. I have seen lots of exide's die early (early means less than three years).
Don't worry about your FM transmitter - its power consumption is very low (negligible) - a single headlamp uses ten times more electricity.
Several of us run large stereo's on cars without any negative effect on the cars battery.

| then the battery itself may b the culprit...sadly my new one is also exide..hmmm lets wait and c how this one fairs...also i used to use the fog lamps frequently....guess amaron would've been a better choice.... |

| My Logan is now 2.5 yrs old. Done 35000+ kms. Battery still seems to be going strong. On the other hand, my other car "M800" 1997 model had its first battery change in 2005. I had then changed to Amaron, which is still doing service. |

| did you leave the car with headlamps or any other gadget ON with engine OFF... or did the engine cooling fan run for more than the normal time with engine off... in logan this fan does run after switching off the engine. normally it is programmed to stop after a while but then it is a program.
in all other cases whatever gadgets are installed on car and are used when car engine is charging battery will not make any difference on the battery life. the only thing is battery must get charged properly at the required voltage probably from the car alternator. |

| No Mir, i'm positive that i've never left the head lights on. the only thing i've done is to use the fm transmitter while the car was off, but that was only a couple of times and that too only maximum 10 min. And as for the engine fan, i haven't noticed any such thing so far, but will keep an eye out for it. Thanks. Don't know if something is wrong with the alternator.

| 36000Kms is good distance that you have covered. Strange that it should become weak so soon. |

| Alrite Guys, My Battery finally Died! 3 years and 3 Months down, it did decent i guess! The confusion now was which one to go for! Amaron - Had heard a lot about their Batteries. On my inquiry, came to know that they have just one battery that fits the Logan! Its a 60 Ampere battery and the Warranty is 2+2 years (First 2 years Replacement warranty and the Next 2, you get discounts on the new battery if u need to go for 1. It ranges from sumwer abt 47% and goes down to sum 13-15% as the months go by) 60 Ampere Warranty, 2+2 years Price - Rs. 8650 Exide - Exide, again had just 1 battery for the Logan. 65 Ampere here! Warranty, 2.5(30 Months)+2.5 years. Price - ~Rs. 8600 Standard Furukawa (SF) - Same as the Exide 1, 65 Ampere. Warranty, 2.5+2.5 years. Price - ~Rs. 8500 All the Batteries above are Maintainance free. Now, i had a friend who worked with Exide earlier and Tata Green (Shit stuff) later. Spoke to Him at length. He told me that SF, Now owned by Exide are the Most Technologically superior Thanks to the Japanese Technology (Furukawa) batteries. Highly recommended me to go for the same! I still wasnt very convinced so on furhter prodding on to why Not Amaron or Exide, he said that I could go for the Exide if i was more concerned about the Brand as such but, he personally get SF for his cars and has never had any problem till date! The Warranty here was also better than the Amaron! Quite convincing that was. Decided to go for an Standard Furukawa Battery. Thanks to him, i got a goood Discount as well. Got the Standard Furukawa Super Sonic battery for Rs. 7000 Some Pictures below Just another thing, i found out the Logans Battery to be a little on the costlier side. A Friend installed An Amaron battery for his Scorpio for about Rs. 4000! The Exide guy was telling me that cause of the European Engine and stuff! Not quite convinced! Also, Funnily enough, when i spoke to a Mahindra Service Center (Ambition Auto), they Quoted me Rs. 8500 for an Exide Battery with surprisingly just a 1 year Company warranty!!!! _________________ LOGANIZE!! ;-) |

| Saumil,
The cost of the battery will not be a pain considering the length of time for which you will keep the car. Even I know SF's to be trouble free and having good service life.
What is your present odo reading btw? |
