| Hi Dharma, It is usually very abnormal for a bonnet to fly open [and there upon hit the windscreen]. However, possibilities are that the bonnet did not get locked completely after being opened previously.
I have heard few cases of Tata Indigo's with similar incidents. But. for Logan this is a first time.
A bonnet usually has 2 stage lock [like any other door on the car] If you try to press the same all the way down by yourself, you will engage the primary hold, but may not be able to lock down till the 2nd. Though you will hear a 2nd click, chances are it has just gripped the latch and not gone below it.
To ensure that ur bonnet is properly locked just make sure to drop the bonnet for the last 10-12 inches. This will ensure that the weight of the bonnet itself will give sufficient force for locking.
In case you did follow the regular practice of dropiing the bonnet to lock it, then you should probable check with your dealer service. Maybe the mechanism needs to be lowered a little to eliminate any play between the lock on the frame and the catcher on the bonnet.
Do keep us updated. [I also notice that the area around the antenna base haas gone down due to the beating. really sad]
Have a safe drive.

| Well first of all you are a lucky guy I had this once in a Ford and I thought I had hit a wall and the hood wrapped round the roof .Could you post a photo of the Hood (Bonnet) It seems to me that you had checked your oil and water and not put the hood down properly (I always let mine drop) with a bang But this should not happen anyway because it has a safety mechanisem to stop this it like a little Hook which should hold it in place even if the hood is not securly dropped .I would go to the handler and DEMAND all work to be done under the warrenty Please keep us informed Stu | |

| Thank you for your valuable Suggestions,
I Contacted my Insurance Company they said that i can Claim for the Damages, i am Sending my Car for Repair today, once it is done i will Post the Pics.
to my surprise when i looked at the Bonet Lock it was Locking only the Single Lock and the Double one has Came to side and it is not locking, i dropped my bonet from 25 to 30 inches hight and double chacked for the Locking but its Locking on Single Point only the double Lock is not at all Functioning, i think i need to Replace the Lock Also.
Regards,
Dharma | |

| I have come across this on various different blogs. However not for Logan. In all cases it has been seen that this happens only beacuse of the bonnet not having been closed the way it should. So basically I would say a check must be performed before starting the drive as to whether the bonnet is locked properly or is loose. In later case drive must be avoided as obvious. | |

| Man that is disturbing to see! I am so glad that you and your family are safe. Guys, next time please include checking the bonnet lock in your itinerary before embarking. You've been EXTREMELY lucky to say the least! The bonnet coming up must have created a blind spot to you for which you could have very easily lost complete control and bang into something like a car ahead or a tree on the side.. Lucky that nothing of that sort happened. Now go to Mahindra and Blow the shit out of their ears. Tell them you've just come out of a Near Death accident and they better check and rectify each and everything in concern. Do keep us Posted. | |
