Since new models from MR seem unlikey to happen at this point of time,
I was refering to the new logan only.
Customer surveys conducted for B-Sedan owners (those who did not consider Logan) actually bring out one of the reasons for rejection of logan as below
I quote the customers' line below:
"My sales guy says the logan has only 2 valves per cylinder - SOHC. 1 for inlet & 1 for outlet. Compared to other cars, which are mainly DOHC, this is a generation old technology. So, why should I buy a car that is not even a DOHC"
Now, ideally according to me, if performance is similar, why would I bother if it were a SOHC or DOHC?
But these are some driving factors which give you the opportunity to co-exist with other competitors.
Customers in A-Category cities (who account for 60% of car sales) are too finicky about what is parked in their garages or driveways.
Too much for snob value. I'd say. Logan is now not even a part of the surveys of B-Sedan customers. People have alreay forgotten it!!
