| Guys, I am working in the Marketing Division of Toyota in Bangalore, focussing on Toyota Genuine Accessories Planning (so keep doing research & studies on Genuine as well as Aftermarket aaccessories) Rear Parking Sensors are a boon. I got one installed within 3 months of my vehicle purchase. Mine is a 4 sensor system with LED distance display mounted on the dash. The place where i park near office is near the roadside kerb with vehicles stuck close together all the while. So, for me it was a must-have option. I still think it was a great idea to get them installed. Got used to it so much that i actually stoped seeing in my ORVM's(outside rear view mirror) for obstacles and walls when reversing my car in parking lots and other places - The whole stuff costed me 4500/- - Display starts from 2.5 mtr and beeps start from 1.5 mtr. beeps get faster as object gets closer. - When the display shows distance as 0.0 mtr, u still have about 8 inched between the car bumper and the object. So, u are always safe - Brand = Red Soul (Imported form Malaysia i guess) - Presently leading brand in Bangalore Here's a picture for u guys to get an idea. Sensor holes will be drilled and then the sensors will be mounted. Job very neatly executed by the dealer person. The display unit is wired and is plaved on the dash Hope u guys get the idea. | |

| Thats the sad part Saumil, Sensors are available only in black. However, some firtment guys try to do a paint job. But as u can expect there is bound to be a diff. in colour matching. Camera types are great. However my recent survey of market reveals that the existing types costing b/ween 15-17K are not being preferred bcoz they r too heavy on the mirror. New models are coming in which have a lighter and more crisp display of camera inputs., This costs abt 12K. But the problem inherent with camera types is that field of view is limited. (coverage span). Sensors hence become compulsory I would suggest anyone going for reverse parking systems to take ones which have 4 sensors camera & display units. However, if budget is a constraint, just the 4 sensor type will do a great job. It is worth the buy. Cheers | |

| I just use the 4 sensors and I actualy think a display is not so needed .As like i say you still need to look behind to be aware !! As for painting them This is a NO NO as they will not work anymore You can buy coloured ones over here (wish I had but what the hell ) I enjoy talking to you guys so far away Stu | |

| UPDATE Can I paint the sensors to colour match my car? Yes, you can but you must use a non-metallic car spray paint. You can spray the entire surface area of the sensors to ensure a good colour match. Most car colours come in both metallic and non-metallic versions so when buying a can of car spray paint just opt for the non-metallic version. | |

| I got my parking sensor fitted by the dealer as a standard accessory for my 1.6GLS. It basically has 4 sensors bored into the rear bumper. The display basically a rear view mirror that is clipped on to the existing RVM. Sadly, you lose out on the day-night option.
The sensor is activated when you put the car on reverse and when your bumper moves closer than 2.0 mtrs to an object it sarts with a warning beep and gives the dist in metrs. It also shows and reads out the distance in mtc/cms to the obstacle.
A rather handy gadget to help park in Delhi where bumper kisses are a way of life.
will try to take some pics of the display and post it here someday

| Yes.. Thats what is stopping me.. They'll have to do so i guess and thanks to that, the roof may rattle a little later {MAY..} and in that case, the service stations would just wash their hands off.... | |

| well.. the "who needs" group of questions are rather over rated... if we go on asking those questions we can ask about absolutely anything under the sun and beyond it...
i liked it.. so i took it.. just the same logic I used to buy a logan.. people did ask me "who needs a sedan in this traffic?"

| Ok let me put it another way you will only look into this display when you are reversing and you will not look in that mirror all the time because you use the wing mirrors to reverse .Your will hear the beeps when you are nearing an object (But not all Objects) so the extra money you paid for this mirror device and having it fitted could have been saved and spent on something else (like Beer) Stu I am not putting you down just giving a bit of SOUND advise to potential reversing aid buyers | |

| budy.. i understand what you said.. now here's a revert.. all in good humor Stu 1. this one came to me FREE - from the showroom 2. on Delhi roads, one has to use all three mirrors, a twisted neck, a rear sensor and a few silent prayers (all at the same time) to park. So any extra input is useful. 3. and since this gadget actuakky gives me a read out in terms of 10cms... backing into a blind parking slot against a wall becomes rather easy ... there have been times i could go right upto about 20cm from the wall.. and mind you these Logans have only one reversing light, that too on the far side (left). as for the beer - have one with me right now.. after driving 60km on Indian roads.. you will surely need a 12pack regularly! | |

| This has just happened at work today As you may well know I deliver frozen food in Germany in all the little Villages in my area our depot has 36 vehicles .I have worked here for 18 years Today I came back into the firm to load up and found out that one of our new drivers was reversing and has run over an old lady she is criticly ill in intensive care .Now this driver is a good lad and he says he looked behind as he got into the cab and as he reversed this old lady somehow got behind him unknowing to him This makes me very angry as our Vehicles are NOT fittede with a reversing warner we just need beepers .It is not to dear I have a new vehicle with elec mirrors and electric windows and NO beeper some firms cannot get there prioritys right so !!!!! I ADVISE ALL OF YOU LOGAN DRIVERS TO GET YOURSELFS A REVERSING AID .WITH OR WITHOUT DISPLAY . If My friend had had one of these on his Vehicle he would not have had this accident Stu MY Truck | |

Here in India, the road space is so less, parking space has become a luxury. People will look to park their vehicles in the tightest space possible. So, we tend to take aids like parking sensors as a convenience tool not safety. But, thanks for highlighting the safety point of view, stu! nice truck you've there, BTW.
