| Hi Guys, I had one doubt regarding immobilizer warning light. Suppose we are driving the vehicle and because of low slow speed the engine goes off. Logan petrol usually has three key states, "Stop","Accessories position-Ignition off" and "Ignition on". So if engine goes off, then it will be in "Ignition On". Hence to start again we need to bring it to "Accessories position-Ignition off" state, and once we bring the key to this state the immobilizer warning light will be on. So do we have to wait till it goes off so as to start again. Because that will get the traffic behind you really furious. Could anyone please clarify? | |

| Oh this key shifting happens in Petrol too .... wow hats off to Renault techs, they are expert in making simplest to simple. So antony why you are worried about IMMO light you do your own work it will do its own .... you need not to wait for any light (only diesel needs warmup) just start car asap, it will not hurt you IMMO. | |

| I don't think it is advisable to try the same. As far as my knowledge goes, if any duplicate key is used to start the car, the engine will stop to function. | |

| will it stop to function or it will not start at the first place. as far as i know the key has a radio frequency that is tuned to the ignition unit. it is only if these frequencies match that the ignition understands the key and further triggers starter following whcih engine starts. however i am still left unanswered, about how does logan immobiliser actually function? | |

| ok finally i have something to share The immobilizer in Logan has a embedded electronics in the key head (embedded in the plastic head) that needs no seperate power (Like the access control cards). It gets power from the RF signals of the transponder (The Circular ring around the key hole in logan) as well as it decodes the signal and responds to the query regarding its 12 byte id number imediately after ignition and at frequent time intervals. The transponder sends it to the Engine Computer and if there is no reply or the code is wrong the engine will stop running in two seconds from then. A very good anti theft mechanism and the only hitch is that dont miss the key and have duplicate safe. This means: 1. if a duplicate key without the correct RF pair match as in the engine is used, the engine will never start. 2. if some how key and engine stop communicating correct codes at any point of time engine stops automatically. (wonder whether this is really correct functioning, as i feel a bit insecure with this. after all its all mechanics. what if the right key fails communicating correct code and car is at 150 kmph. however this scenario may be just my imagination as never ever such a scenario is heard of.) | |

| It does not send messages all the time !! It will call and recieve on the initial start up and thats that only when you remove the key will it need to send the signal again | |

| After removal of Key from Ignition Switch, my Immobilizer keeps on blinking continuously. So, is it a major issue or just common symptom with all Logans. | |
