| I have just read this !!! Renault CLIO The clutch cable is adjusted automatically at the pedals by a cam. Every time you operate the pedal it takes in the slack. If it isn't working your clutch plates may be too worn, or the cam is broken. | |

| Adam, as per the company website: Max. Torque (nm/rpm) 110/3000 Max. Power (hp/rpm) 75 / 5500 So you have to take it to those RPMs to achieve the maximum result. Yes, in the process the noise will be high and you will experience a drop in mileage. But thats unavoidable. May be you could do it over a period of time to get used to the noise levels? | |

| Try and get it to 3000rpm atleast to start off with and then later try increasing some more. Don't take it that much when in first gear though. | |

| kaustuv.. have been driving the same car for a year now.. I have found going up to those figures/gear rather a strain.. i use the following
1st: 0-10 - 2000 rpm 2nd 10-30 - 2500 rpm 3rd 30-60 - 3000 rpm 4th 60 - 85 - 3000 rpm 5th 85-120/130 - 3500 rpm
all RPMs mentioned above are the upper limits i take my car to for any given gear... between 100-120kmph the engine sound is loud but the car remains very stable... higher RPMs do affect the efficiency of the engine in terms of both pick up as well as fuel consumption..

| @kaustav: does your car actually go all that in the gears you mentioned without backfiring... 1st gear - 0-5 kmph (in fact in 1st gear i never press the accelarator pedal and simply lift the clutch, unless the car has to climb upwards from standstill) 2nd gear - upto 15 kmph 3rd gear - upto 40 kmph 4th gear - between 20 to 90 kmph above that 5th gear | |

| Have been moving at 1700 rpm through 1-2-3-4-5 gears and then maintaining 1700rpm at 60kmph ... if i need more speed in 5th gear rpm up to 2500-3000. Have found this the most economical way to drive, yet not really sacrificing any power | |

| @adam: it wont go above 110 at 2200. u need more revs. as you can hit till 110 at 2200, probably around 3000. though you must keep a check on rpms, to be on safer side so that you may not incur expenses sooner, enjoy the machine and take it to limits specially in the 4th and 5th gears. | |

| Pete's in Idia has tuning boxes for the Logan as well. They are plug and play and you can remove them before giving the car for service - so that warranty is not a problem.

Look for Renault at the bottom of the page. He has dealers across India and the product is priced at about Rs 30,000.

| Why don't the manufacturers do what the pete's box does in the first place? Drastic drop in mileage? | |

Oh! they do work well. Overdrive (or one of the other Indian car magazines) had done a 10,000 Km test/review and the performance increase was quite drastic. But then - you loose out on FE (which is of prime importance to the masses) and these FE concerns cause manufacturers to detune engines for our market.

Drastic drops indeed, the magazine that tested the Petes box reported a FE below 14 Kmpl with the pete's box installed - mostly because of spirited driving.
