Hi Rohinton,
Welcome to the forum.

Can you please post more details about your car?
Like year of purchase, average monthly usage, kilometeres covered till date, type of usage etc.

This will help others on the forum to get a fair aidea of what to expect from theor vehicles in case yours seems to be better.

Cheers

Dear Bhavesh,

Ever since I bought my car, the average in city has been 18kmpl.
On highwys, I initially used to drive between 100-110kmph, at which time my mileage was around 23-24.

Of late, my highway drives are between 120-140kmph and my mileage now is around 18kmpl on highways,

Surya

Since I usually give ample time for the engine to warm-up, I dont see a problem there.

Things seem to have sorted out a little after the last service. I'm myself a little less pushing on the car. Next highway drive should tell.

I find a very good fuel consumption at 130 BUT in real speed thats about 115
so maybe we are laboring the motor a bit and not realizing it Check your Speed at 140 with your GPS you will be surprised In Germany I can hit a Speed Camera at 60 kmh when the speed limit is 50 and it does not go off so I would say 60KMH is about 52 KMH (thats the legal limit before the camera zapps you)
Get back to me on this one .In fact all of you do the Test Check your GPS at 140 KMH Tacho
I await your input

Hi Surya,

Thanks for input.. I drove again on highway for 600 kms and got 18 kmpl(first highway trip gave only 15-15.5).

I think i must warm up engine bit more before i start.. Its cold here but Min temp in mumbai is around 11-13 on COLDEST nights.

Does extra premium deisel help on mileage/engine performance?

Frankly, I have not felt any difference in the mileage when I used premium fuel for about 4 months. Hence stuck back to normal, which is what is recommended by the company also.

I get fuel efficiency of around 26-27 (without ac) and around 24 (with ac) with a litre of diesel. I usually drive at 80-90 kmph. I bought the vehicle in 2010 september, have driven around 50k till now and am very much satisfied with the fuel efficiency.

When you check fuel average don't go by whats on the dash control reading. That is not always right. The simplest method is to go by the trip meter.
1. When the low fuel indicator turns on reset your trip meter to 0.0.
2. Fill in your fuel and make a note of the quantity.
3. Leave the trip meter running as is.
4. When the low fuel indicator turns on next time check your trip meter reading.

Rest the math should be easy fuelFilled / tripMeterReading that should work out your average.

zapping... i've checked that way too. the figures i wrote were for the highway. in city drive it's just 10-12 kmpl. the trip meter reading are quite accurate......

Like Zapping Says his way is the most reliable !Using this method especially against the Meters in the Logan which they actuall took out of the European ones after 2006 because of inaccuracy and people not being able to work them
I got with my Logan 14Mpi Petrol using my own measurements on my last trip from the Black Forest to Czechoslovakia and Back using B roads there and Autobahn Back a total of 1400 km 6,1 ltrs to 100 km or as you work it out 16.39km/ltr ..

Average 04072014Average 04072015
guys i need help.. from last month my diesel logan is giving me a very poor mileage of about 10 km/ltr today i got it checked at service center and they are saying the air intake temperature sensor is faulty and will take about rs. 16000/- to change i am very confused as my car has only done 66000kms and it drives fine even at high speed i mean past 120km the only problem is the mileage, they showd me a thick black hard rubber pipe under the air filter unit and said this pipe has the sensor inbuilt in it and the whole pipe will be changed which will cost me this much.. after coming home when i again checked the pipe to take a look i saw a plastic thing attached with it and two wires were cut loose i dont know if they were attached to the plastic thing or something else and how they got cut or some short circuit or something like that happened.. so can anyone please tell me what should i do? can i drive my car like this for a while? can it cause any damage to the engine if i drive it like this? can the wires be reconnected and sensor can work again? from where i can get the sensor in less amount if needed?... i m attaching the pics of the plastic part on the pipe and the loose wires..

can you make a better photo? try and rejoin the wires (correct colors) maybe they cut them to get money from you!
it sounds to me like a case of dirty tricks department !! two cables never break at once Shocked

I think this switch will change the amount of air entering the motor and if its not working you will be running on the wrong mixture ie tickover mixture and then on fast driving pure fuel I bet you have a really Black exhaust pipe and lots of black smoke when you drive it hard ! Clean all that area around the cables and rejoin them !

for a better pic. air filter will have to be removed as because of the pipes and wires its really hard to get the cam under it... i was there whole time with the car and no mechanic touched anything they just took a test ride and when everything seemed fine they just connected the laptop from the glove compartment and ran tests in which 3 errors showed up they were..
1. inlet air temperature sensor
2. inlet manifild pressure sensor
3. water indl

i can be mistaking in the names or spellings as the service engineer told me about the errors and i typed them in my cell phone nothing in written was given to me and then i was told that all these things relate to the main intake temperature sensor and when they told me about its cost i said i will have to come again after conforming the cost and all.. i cant connect those wires anywhere as i cant see any place to connect them or any loose wires it seems like they were going sumwhere inside the grey colored plastic thing(which is the sensor i think).. i also thought the same that 2 wires cant go loose at same time but it can happen because of some short circuit if happened or may be they were pulled while i got my ac serviced last month they have to take out the cooling coil and blower etc. to clean.. may be if i can find a pic. or video of this sensor in working condition then i can know where were the wires connected.. i m searching online but nothing like this is showing up anywhere...

If you get a short circuit the fuse blows ! This is why you have them and you will not blow two wires off a joint
Take off the airfilter thats easy and then have a look properly and like I said clean the area ! I bet you can rejoin the cables

there is no difference felt in driving just sometimes feel under power when starts moving in first gear and also there is no heavy black smoke if accelerated to hard some black smoke comes which is normal in diesel cars.. workshop guys checked it before taking the test... i can take off the filter no big deal but if the wires were connected into the grey plastic part of which i am 90% sure.. to join them will have to take out the whole black pipe which is not possible for me i think also before taking any step i want to make sure about the connection of the wires and for that i think i will have to see the sensor in working condition for that i m searching online or i will go to the workshop again and will show them the wire and will ask them to show the same wire in some other logan there.. i dont mind paying them some money if they can do it more correctly and safely
