Logan 1.5 DLE (august 2008)

Hail Loganites,

I proudly introduce myself as the latest member of this esteemed forum and a proud Logan owner.

I own a Logan 1.5 DLE Aug.2008 (registered in Delhi in September 2008), misty grey and have ticked 37000 kms.

My travels, although nowadays generally restricted between my residence in Vashi,New Mumbai and the local railway station (approx. 3.5 kms.) and back has seen happier days.

I purchased my Logan when I was posted in Delhi and I selected the car just by chance. I had decided on a Diesel Ford Fiesta and my loan was already sanctioned for the same when my driver suggested I should also looked at a new car recently launched called the Logan.

Initially I was taken aback by the plain jane looks of the Logan (especially interiors) but I was very happy with the drive especially the raised driving position which gave the SUV feel and the enormous amount of cabin space and ofcourse smooth, noiseless engine combined with value for money price and immediately decided to go for it.

The car is fabulous and has given me absolutely no troubles and I easily clock 14kms to a litre of Diesel with A/C in crawling city traffic situations. I have tested my vehicle in preety tough terrain and adverse climatic conditions prevalent in Northern India.

I have covered places such as Agra, Shimla, Manali, Mussouri etc. in my Logan and never felt less than satisfied with the drive quality.

Problems faced:

1) Leaky A/C colling tubes: Experienced leakage of A/C refrigerant and tried refilling gas at local garages which would eventually drain out in a weeks time. Finally visited Show room who detected the leak and replaced the cooling tube unit free of cost within warranty period.

2) Windscreen wipers: I relocated to Mumbai and was subjected to the regular deluge common here when suddenly the connecting rod of the wiper unit just sheared (broke) and I could not find the part in any local garage /spare part store. Finally I had to go to the showroom (15kms away) and the part (only connector rod) was replaced at a cost of Rs.10500/- only.

3) Quality of authorised workshops: Very very poor. Less number of workshops so getting appointment is difficult. Quality of work is soddy. I was suprised to note some do not even have car lifting facilities (shree durga Delhi). Advisors who are not at all experienced on the car (Logan is neglected at Mahindra dealerships).

4) Suspension: Recently got the suspension redone and is now smooth. I guess there were some inherent problems in the suspension since the time of purchase of the vehicle but service centres paid no heed to my complaints.

However I have located a dealership where I have befriended an advisor and am really happy with the quality of service received and my car is running absolutely well literally better than when it was newly purchased.

Thus I conclude Logan is the best vehicle in its class and totally value for money but you have to strike a personal chord with your service centre representative to ensure smooth running of your logan.
