Competitor SX4...

Below is what i got from a thread. I believe looking at the structure of SX4 somehow this will be true.

In my SX4-ZXi, some 3 month old and 3000 KM done,
1) The ride is very bumpy: I drive on supposedly good roads of Hyderabad. Everybody who sat on my SX4 has this comment to offer. I recently drove my friend's Alto for 1000 KM on a Bangalore-Calicut trip: now I really cannot say whether SX4 offers perceptible better ride than Alto.

I suppose Maruti overlooked this one while making higher ground clearance.
Tyre Pressure?
Wheel Alignment?

2) When following the bends of road at speed say 80 kmph or more, I feel that I am getting thrown away. Again I felt Alto was better in this and I guess I will feel more safe with Alto than with SX4 on bends of roads.

3) In addition, I felt SX4's steering wheel was a bit scary compared to that of Alto for high speed drive. SX4's steering wheel appears to return toward center with a bit more force and is too light.

This is one of the drawbacks of electronic light weight power steering not properly calliberated with the wheel weights. Could be?

4) The feel of clutch/accelerator is inconsistent: sometimes dry (as if without lubricant) and other times good. Not sure but guess dry feeling occurs in night, and feeling is good if vehicle was under hot sun during day. In addition I feel the slight vibration in accelerator (may be at other places too) at times.

This is one of the drawbacks of improper / poor hydraulic clutch system from maruti.

5) Headlights are too weak. In fact, it is scaring to drive in night with such headlights.

No idea about this.

Guys common share your posts on other models too. after all we can just only abuse logan.

all cars have their problems. we could discuss those too if we get to know something.

I havent driven the SX4. I thoroughly hate that car. I dunno why.
I'll probably take a test drive in a few weeks to see whether that allegation holds good. I hope it does

Come to think of it, I had almost bought a SX 4; it was my initial choice. Then I came across some well meaning friends who had their own (horror!!!!) stories to narrate. That made me give it a second thought. Subsequently, one homed on to the Logan 1.6 GLS.

One had desisted talking about it so far for the simple reason that this Forum was for discussing the Logan - its strong points and issues which needed deliberation; instead of berating about other cars. Now that the issue has been raised, well.....

One aspect left out is the abysmally low kpl - a petrol guzzler at best.

In fact there are lots of models from Maruti that has not made me much sense at all.

Omni, WagonR, Versa, Estilo, Dzire, SX4, AStar, Ritz
are the ones i cant digest people buying them...

Dzire - It may be good looking however not for me atleast but it is nothing more than a Swift. Its introduced to fill in that segment gap in sedans and compete with Logan. Why are people so happy in purchasing Swift with a boot with no other differences?

Omni, Wagon R - Toughest to drive and acheive stability. Rear seats are nothing but benches.

Versa - Can this be even considered to be a car? Not quite sure. Bachchans have a good fan following.

Estilo - What have they done to the good old ZEN? Surprisingly they provide ABS, Airbags, keyless entry, Antitheft, Electrical ORVMs and all features in this small tin. Are they needed in this? On the advertisement coming on TV they show a nice double DIN player fitted on console as if it is competing with some BMW. Similarly shaped Daewoo Matiz was criticized. Then how come estilo is welcommed.

AStar - Extremely small. Must have been introduced as a two seater and would have been a hit.

Ritz - I see no difference at all. It is simply AStar.

This does not mean Maruti does not make good cars. Some i really like and respect are.

Maruti 800 - Decent Economical Car.
Gypsy - I believe this is the only open jeep India has produced so far.
Maruti 1000/Esteem - First quality Sedan ever entering Indian market.
Baleno - Decent. However may be a little bit below the mark.
Zen - I liked this the most.

Grand Vitara - Currently am working on SUV's at office. I realy dont know whats grand about this vehicle. Its a puny pony
SX4 - Stil cant understand why this is sold after Dzire's launch
Dzire - Crazy BUM (gas bag)
Swift - Aprreciate Maruti's effort to change the market in India
Ritz - Adding to the crowd (or to overcome the insecurities foreseen by Maruti)
Wagon R - Moderately acceptable
Estilo - What you get is not what you see.
Versa - Bake breads
Omni - Bake smaller breads
A-Star - Is it a car??? or maybe a
Alto - Value for money (though its being stripped even more)
800 - Ah, now somethings making sense

Quite agree with you.

Add Zen (old one) to the (short!!) list of sensible cars from Maruti stable. I have one of 2001 make and it still is VFM.

you forgot alto.....well i think that's the best car maruti produced, after the 800....affordable,fuel economic,good looking,good ride, quite spacious...more than enough i guess for a 300k budget car??????

yes Alto too is a really good car. i agree on that one.
