difference in 2008 & 2009 model

hi everyone,

i am a newbie and have joined the forum a couple of days back, i am planning to purchase a logan GLX 1.4 but the dealers are giving huge discount on 2008 models and hardly any discount on 2009 model, which are not available yet.....

so, can you please tell me the benefits and losses i will make if i purchase 2008 model instead of 2009 one.............

The year will affect your resale value whenever u decide to sell your car!
Also,of what i know, the 2008 vehicle isnt the New Collection Logan!

thank you saumil, and one more news i read in the times of india today that renault is ending it's logan production in 2010(in india) and will be launching a hatchback....

so will it affect the cost of spares or resale value or availability of accessories/parts after that????

yes even at the end of feb 08 i got a 07 model from factory ... so get it in writing frm dealer if u insisting on 09 model. see my thread on this and the compensation i got in the end

yes they said the discount will be more on 2008 model, and even the new-look model( with carbon foncing interior and all) is available in 2008 models and with those they will give me atleast 75000 discount and on 2009 model they will give me upto 68000 discount and that also till 28th feb, 2009.

so i'd better wait till march bcoz i can make the payment in march only so better pay on the day, i take my delivery, what say????????

if the decision is to wait till the new stock arrives. make sure u r getting a 2009 model ... get this commitment in WRITING ... unlike my situation where I was verbally promised the current year model, but they failed to deliver this and gave me an vehicle from previous year's stock


Check chassis number for year of mfg ie 7ZK means 2007 and K means November (being 11th letter of alphabet)

Booked my logan 1.4 GLX 2009 model on 22nd Feb .. am promised a 2009 model .. thanks for informing tomlai, will make rest payments only after confirming its a 2009 model .. Had negotiated heavily with the dealer so will double check surely .. apart from the technique you mentioned is there any other way we can confirm the chasis number is of 2009 make.

9ZA would mean 2009 Jan
9ZB = 2009Feb
9ZC = 2009Mar

and so on

This is the foolproof sureshot way ... open th eengine bonnet and read the metal tag near the front edge

got the chassis number from the dealer .. its a 8 character number and it starts with 9zb .. so its feb 2009 model rt? .. is mahindra logan chassis number 8 characters?

Any idea in decoding the Engine no?
