| Guys, As a product, Logan is a good car and there have been number of instances in the Past like this In INDIA too. Take Palio for example. It started as a good car, people started hating it cause of its Low Mileage and High Maintainance, Fiat as a brand was dented big time when this happened. They upgraded the Palio and now with the TATA tie up, they are stll selling about 900 of them each month. With Fiat Siena and Petra also flopping, everyone said it was the End of the road for FIAT in India but they still stayed back and with the New Linea, they are doing pretty well. So as they say in Cricket, The match isnt over till the last ball is bowled. Be patient guys. I Doubt Renault, if not Mahindra, would take INDIA so lightly. The World is coming here, why would the Worlds 3rd-4th Largest Car Maker want to make a quick exit??? I know it is getting late but i still have my bet on Renault getting aggressive, sooner than later.
Also, Ezee, however little we can do to educate the mass on the Logan is an added benefit. Whatever numbers u got, i wont debate on them but i Personally have atleast answered 400-500 people on the Logan and i am sure many of them went on to get one! The Forum in itself has also done pretty well taking in consideration the sales of the car. Also, the Logan not being targetted as a Youth car, not many are so Net Friendly either. Also if you thought Renault was big only in Romania, check this :- Renault Interactive World Map

| Ezee the Logan is not just a hit in Rumania !It was developed in Rumania it is the baby of Dacia who is a subsidury of Renault Now lets look at the strongest car market in the world Germany Did you know that the Logan has been sold OUT until 2010 where now people are waiting to get there New Logan after this date Also the Renault Dacia garages are complaining (and this is from the horses mouth) that the Dacias only come in for servicing !! Meaning they are so reliable .Why is this not so in Your country ? It is a intern problem and it is quite normal that Renault with drop out if the Quality is not up to scratch ! Renault is a BIG name and not just in cars .I wish I could hear you all say what a fine car this is .! But if you cannot then it is not a Renault thing Stu | |

| @saumil, thanks for taking up the matter. The parts of prices have been crept up from the time of launch, but the parts list in website and on showrooms have not been updated. Regarding the service of Dzire, i'll check with a service assistant of my Swift and update. @martin245, what a nice attitude over there? So you don't want the 99% of Logan buyers to know about the service cost that Logan gives during the 60k km service and after that, real nice. And for the price list, every Mahindra showroom has a parts price list similar the picture, i've posted below, from the official site. This might be the price at the time when we bought Logan, but now it has crept up three times. They kept this list claiming that Logan is the cheapest of the lot. @Mir.., I think the Logans in Bangalore airport, as well as the fleet running Mumbai are all petrols, 1.4l. They should cost less than diesels. @ezee, i agree with you. Logan was cheaper earlier, but now it has more competitors which made Logan's price high, and also less features. And also now people prefer powerful cars and in their thoughts Logan is an underpowered car, but in reality it has adequate power, from what i observed in other forums many disagree with this. And for all who compares Logan's Indian market with other international markets, have in mind that preference varies among regions. How can you compare Germany's service cost with Indian's?? Many Indian cars doesn't need to replace timing belt as early as 60000km. If Indian cars can do this, why not a reputed brand called Renault? Earlier regarding this issue, i contacted a ACI staff, he commented that Renault is playing safe with earlier replacement of all parts. In India for a car to sell for a long time in good numbers, it needs to be VFM, reliable, durable, and the main thing cheaper to maintain. Toyota excels in this with many good examples. | |

| guys guys guys.. cool down.. all of you.. i read and re read the entire thread.. what IS the point we are trying to make?
This is the way I see it: 1. Renault is a big car maker, but has launched an underpowered cheaper version of the Logan in India to latch on to some numbers 2. It has taken M&M as a partner who believes that customers are there to be fleeced (any of you who know Anand Mahindra's other businesses will surely vouch for this). M&M has been makers of tractors and jeeps and lately some premium SUVs. However, the TA and the both these segments is very different from Logan. 3. The price comparision charts that are populated by any company in any segment for any product is always a smart manipulation. Where M&M have willfully cheated customers is by hiding costs like trasport charges (from Pune to Delhi!!! - whoever heard of that) and a zillion other "hidden costs". M&M + Renault has also chosen to pull woolies about scheduled changes/services and their relevant charges. 4. Where i feel Renault has completely failed is in making sure there is a modicum of decency in the quality of service preffered. The training of the service personnel as well as of maintaining transparency with regards to "what's happening with my money" both come up much shorter than they should be. And i refuse to believe that Renault has no control on that. I own a Honda bike (the Unicorn) and the way HMSI reacts to even a sort mail gives so much confidence in the company that it makes me happy and proud to own one. Mahindra-Renault has always displayed a very callous attitude towards customer issues, and that is so very sad.
Stu, I have said this before but i have seen you making very "shut up" type of comments to anyone who says anything against Renault. Brother, this forum is all about freedom of soeech. If Ezee is unhappy with his car maker, he has every right to say so. You being 50 years older, or having driven a trillion kilometers backwards has no purchase at all. In fact it is completely irrelevant.
However, I do want to make a plea to all readers to be a little restrained about your language. It is easy to give vent to frustration. But is is not RIGHT. And in places where I do the same, please feel free to correct me.
Thanks, Logan LOVER | |

| Guys, I doubt anyone is right or wrong here. Some are venting their anger and some are standing by something they love! Everyone has a right to express and the forum is exactly for that. Now, let bygones be bygones. I have a strong feeling that Renault will do something sooner than later and lets all hope for the same. If we keep cribbing and fighting amongst ourselves, doesnt really get us anywhere. So lets put an end to this UNLESS anyone else gets to the 60000 KMS mark. Thats only when we'll have the right picture. The little good news that i have is that i was speaking to a MR employee and he said "I doubt that the expense would be so in all the cars, may be that car needed one and so was replaced". The Manual says Timing Belt and the cost for the same should be around 2000 i guess. The MR guy said he'll confirm and get in touch with me on Monday on the issue. TILL THEN.. LETS NOT DISCUSS THIS!! | |

| 750 is increased to 1250. In 1250 they will perform the normal servicing, no parts replacement. They will check all including brakes, engine tuning (just check), clutch, accelarator, various belts, air pressures. They will wash and vaccum clean the car. If there is something that needs to be changed they should call you for approval if it is not pre approved. Even a small fuse or a bulb is charged extra. Well this is how it happens down here. | |

| Be very careful with outside mechanics. Most of the time they won't have proper tools and the spares may be spurious. Also many a time they lack the expertise to do a thorough job. Though you may shell out extra at the authorized service centers but you will have peace of mind. | |

| i have seen people who if they posses just a screwdriver kit become mechanic with a board that says something like, Jai Ambe Servicing. All type of servicing and repairs. Scuter, Bikey, Motorcicle, Truk, All Car TVS, Bajaj, Suzuki, Honda, Maruti, Hundai, Swift, 800 I know no one from this forum will ever go to such a place. But then what i am trying to convey is outside people may not know renault engines better then the service center mechanics. | |

| Hi guys!
My Logan diesel has completed close to 60k kms and I need to change its tyres now. I'm not really satisfied with the company fitted JK tyres. As compared to my earlier Ford Ikon, I find the ease in driving quite lacking. I'm sure some of you have gone through this process of evaluating tyres for your Logan Diesel. Can someone help me in finding the right type of tyres for my Logan?
Cheers! | |

What surprise me is that timing belt change. Because i own scorpio which has 1 lakh kms and we have not changed the timing belt and it needs replacement only by 1.5lakhs scorpio has a timing chain my friend. ( atleast post 2003 sept if i am not mistaken ) timing chains are usually guaranteed for entire engine life.
