| This machine ended in total loss. ask why? my fault... i was driving drunk with a friend of mine. met accident with a direction board on motorway, straight heads on in to the pole at some 100 kmph. front portion was all gone. radiator burst, engine gasket gone, engine leakage... thanks to almighty, i always have a habit of wearing a seat belt even if car is not moving. that night both os us were wearing seat belt and were saved with no injuries at all. my car took all of them. sad ending. from that day, i got damn scared and i never drive whenever i am on a drinking spree. neither do i go with someone who is gonna drink and drive. i always take taxi or stay back. | |

Mir,I really appreciate the fact that you have come out in the open to declare that it was your fault. Most of the time, people are'nt willing to accept it!! And yes. Your words will definitely caution many others before risking lives of themselves and others. Saumil,Thinking on these lines, why dont we open a section of Road safety ? It can be a good way to promote safe driving habits. And maybe it can get us good publicity if we keep that section open to general public for viewing. Surya

| @vsuprak: having gone through that ordeal i had to believe that it was my fault. i was in a way not ready to believe that i and my co-passenger both were in single piece and were able to walk out. that was a very nice lesson learnt and i am lucky that i did not hurt any one else. i agree that we all must write not only on road safety but driving ethics also. frankly speaking i see all drivers around driving way too unethically. i am also getting in to their habit, somehow. people just dont think beyond themselves. nothing like driving courtsey exists. i do not know about other cities, but in ahmedabad i have seen this as a general habit of let me get through before everyone else does and rest all i just dont care neither of yourself nor of your vehicle. at the same time i think it is just way too difficult to change their perceptions through this portal. i am not sure on how far can we be successful in this initiative. | |

| few irritating examples: -- on a turning point some vehicle wanting to go towards right most of the times overtakes you from your left just near to the turning point and then turns rightwards. ridiculous. the vehicle must maintain its own lane or at least keep right till it turns. -- on roads with traffic all know that vehicles can move in some speed and going beyond that speed is just not feasible. however there are vehicles behind you which will simply keep honking for you to give them space to move ahead. but hey where the hell do i move. there ain't any space for me to give you. -- towards evening most of the drivers start flashing their headlights in an attempt to overtake you. this is done again on roads / streets full of traffic. how can you give space for them to overtake if you yourself dont have any space available. headlight flashing on highways can be understood, but why on city roads. have patience and go by your pace. -- in cases where cars are closely parked people open their doors with a bang such that it causes dent on the next vehicle. i have one on both front right and rear right doors. can't they take a little extra care so as not to cause damages to public property. -- on highways if you happen to overtake some peculiar minded drivers, it seems their souls are not at rest until they overtake you back. they go to any extent to be able to do this. relax i just overtook you vehicle. why are you making an ego issue out of it. a short story... once i was on highway, curising on normal highway speed of some 110 kmph. i had a wagon R in front. i gave him a horn to move aside. he did not. instead he increased his speed. since i got more room in front i also increased my speed carefully maintaining the required distance from that wagon R. finally the wagon R reached its top limit. it could not go beyond 140 kmph. though i could. so i again gave a horn asking it to move. this time since it did not have any option it did give me a space to overtake. i continued with my speed. finally after a stretch of some 60 kms we stopped for a tea break. having stayed there for some 20 mins i saw the man of that wagon R. i overheard him talkin to his wife that this new renault machine is no good and i will show you how i defeat it. i am just waiting for the person to start after which i will simply smash him on the highway. i understood his intentions and simply allowed him to satisfy his ego as soon as i started. this does not end here. continously he maintained a speed so that he can be in front of me and i honk him again. eventually i ended up in another not needed break to let him just piss off. wagon R was carrying 4 adults and some 3 kids. i was carrying 3 adults and 3 kids. similar things have happened with me at least thrice in past 4 month time. upon giving it a thought for their behaviour it seems they simply can not digest presence of renault logan. this may be related to their feeling of jealousy and envy. so basically it is all good for me and all logan owners. | |

I guess even i have encountered such feelings. I REALLY think people just cannot digest the fact that somebody own a Logan. Even Auto magazines and journals seem to take a step-motherly attictude towards Logan . They seem to have even forgetten to mention it in recommendations of cars in the 5-7 Lakh price bracket. Sad. But, it reiterates the fact that Logan owners are level-headed & more practical in approach & thought.

| i guess all this is happening due to lack of market presence and awareness from renault as a part of their cost cutting approach. we have not seen any advertisement in any newspaper, magazine, journal, radio or TV since months now. this is bound to get second hand treatment from our journalists as they are not earning anything out of the whole thing. why will they praise a product for which they are not getting any advertisement / promotional revenues? as far as i can understand renault knows it can reclaim the awareness and market presence, whenever it really wants to do so. the bigger question is will renault want to do that? we will simply have to wait for the time to tell. | |

Only worry is if Renault sleeps so late on this that it wakes up in wonderland

| but i would like to share one incident which recently took place in my native place that is ludhiana. one skoda car driver was honking horn and horn behind a maruti 800 ... the folk in 800 was not having space to let him overtake so this thing lasted long for some 10 mins... when skoda one got place...he stood his car in front of 800 and banged 2 bullets into the person driving maruti 800.. that skoda person was a top builder of chandigarh .... a very bad example of ego getting on one s head... last week even i was travelling with my papa ..car was moving at about 50kmph.. one tata safari with blue light on roof(although personal car) was coming.....he honked and tried to overtake from left side but due to autorickshaw he cudnt.. then he again came behind me and started honking... i was just going to give him side by going to left that he suddenly moved to left..... again he came behind me ......now he came to my right side ,,rolled down his window and started saying something.....my father told me not to bother....otherwise if i would have said something then there might be dhishum dhishum kinda fight.. so one thing learnt....in present scenerio....when people are so hot blooded ... let them overtake | |
