wait to charge diesel logan before starting.

Hi.i own logan 1.5 dls.the handbook and many people suggested to wait for sometime before starting the car.its preheating of engine or something.is it really compulsory.any suggestions for diesel model at starting.
also car takes some seconds to start.

It clearly says that when you start the car, instead of idling, drive the car slowly and carefuy for the first few mins or a kilometer or so.. What that means is try and not accelerate hard or drive rough just when you start yor car...

There is an icon on your instrument panel which indicates the heating of the glow plugs in the diesel engine. (Shown below)



This light (icon) goes off in about 2 seconds after you turn the key (before starting)
Normally, it is recommended to start the engine after the lamp has gone off, as the plugs are optimally heated to ignite the fuel, thereby providing good engine run cycle.

In cases like traffic etc., where the vehicle was already running before stopping, it is not really necessary to wait till the lamp goes off, bcoz the plugs & engine are already hot.
