| I'm Arul, from Chennai. Presently I drive an Indigo 2006TCIC. I was looking for an upgrade and was doing some research on the models like Logan, Fiesta and Verna. Learnt a lot about logan thro' this forum and Thanks to all of you for offering your time in sharing your experiences about Logan.
Thanks to you guys I took test drive of Logan at Chennai with India Garage and GNS. Both were courteous. Tested DLX 1.5 dci. Its cool. Did 3 drives 2 were short in peak-hour traffic and one slightly better on the East coast road. On city accelerate-brake routine the car was good found easy to manovere. Though, I felt they could have doen something about cabin noise reduction. On the ECR I steered the car towards the beach to catch some severely unpaved roads and the ride was good, we did not feel what the car jus' went through.
My only apprehension is on the service side, can anyone apprise me on the mahindra's service.
In chennai we have three delaers viz, GNS, India Garage(VST motors) and MPL Mahindra, you may share your experiences if any with the above dealers.
Second, on the ride quality, I guess Logan is bigger then Indigo, but its engine is slightly underpowered compared to the former.Does it affect the cars performance on the Highways, please let me know.
Last but not the least, the dealer said the Logan gives minimum 16 kmpl in city and a minimum of 18-19 on the highways, is it really so?
In respect to my choices, I have delisted Hyundai Verna as I found it not meeting my expectation and now it is a slugfest between Ford Fiesta and Logan.
Logan has tipped the scale in its favour by its allround performance, and most likely I should go for the same. I shall post to you soon.

| Hi Arul, First of all, there is no competition between the Verna and the Logan. Both of them are a segment apart. And the Logan is seen as a valur for money buy in its segment. It has a gem of an engine (we are talking about the diesels here). The diesel Logan has been a best seller, there is no second opinion about it. Primary reason is its fuel efficiency. Secondary reason is the ride, the comfort it offers, which ashames many cars much above its price point. If you are asking about the after sales, it has been top notch. Mahindra has been on the top even in the JD Power survey. And our first hand experience also suggest that its better than many. I would suggest you to go through this thread to know what the owners have to say about the Logan diesel's fuel economy: https://mahindralogan.forumotion.com/mahindra-renault-logan-technical-f6/mileage-average-fuel-economyfe-t48.htm | |

| Dear Arul, As Ashutosh mentioned, Logan is the Best Buy if you go on value. Its known to give a Tremendous Mileage(Diesel), Unparalleled Comfort and Ride Quality. If you have driven the Indigo, you'll definitely LOVE this Car. Secondly, if you are talking about maintainance, The Logan is The Cheapest Car To Maintain (Autocar India). http://mahindralogan.blogspot.com/2007/12/logans-cheapest-to-maintain.html To Sum it up, Logan is a Car which comes at a Cheaper price than others, is cheaper to Maintain and Run and still Gives Tremendous Mileage, Comfort and Ride! Wat else can one as for!?? | |
