using the high beam in city driving is illegal anywhere..

as for the white lights i find them a distraction even when cars have them

too loud... but each one his own i guess

In India we don't have enough wide roads, so even headlights on lower beam also causes problem more often than not. Here, atleast in kolkata, the average road width is 30 ft. In wider roads (>40 ft) the full beam does not cause much glare to drivers coming from opposite directions. So until and unless the basic infrastructure improves this problem will remain.

For glare from the ORVMs, I think it will be helpful if they also come as anti-glare mirrors as a standard, specified by government.

If there is an option for driving in full beam u cannot stop anyone from using it. I have seen many aged drivers who can't see well until they drive i high beam.

Ezee, how are your 100/90 Phillips Rally lights perfoming? Have you used it extensively, atleast driving 1 or 2 hours in the night continuosly? Has it caused any discolouration to the reflective material within the light assemly? Could you please post pictures of both the light assemblies?
Thank you. Smile

White lights or yellow lights might be OK as per the RTO acceptance in your respective states. PLease check on those.

A word of caution and information on HID's though.
It is not possible to directly fit HID's on your car without modification of the carrier mechanism. The reason for this is

HID's are mandatorily (as a regulation) supposed to be used with Headlamp washers. This is because of the nature of white light, which tends to scatter in presence of debris, dust or other particles on the sirface of the headlamp cover which causes the light to scatter in all directions, making it difficult for drivers of oncoming vehicles.

Notice any manufacturer providing HID headlapms, and you will find that they provide headlamp washers as a standard fitment on those.

If anybody is providing you with HID headlamps and says you dont need any other changes, they you are inviting trouble for yourself because of lack of knowledge on the part of the fitter.

LOGAN - LIGHTS - Page 2 Dark-m10

Hmm ... have tried a new product on my car recently called "detailing clay". Actually it is meant for removing any remaining dirt particles from the car body which is left even after a thorough washing. Using it has certainly has brought back a high degree of smoothness to the car surface. (I didn't want to get the car polished so soon as it is just over a year old.)

What I did also notice was that the plastic headlight covers and the tail lights were not feeling as smooth as they used to and that they felt rough to touch and as Surya was saying the light was getting a little diffused because of the dirty headlights. No amount of washing was fixing this.

However by gently rubbing the wetted detailing clay over the plastic of the lights, they have become super-smooth and shiny! And I could see that there was actually a lot of dirt coming off the plastic onto the clay.

for the headlights specifically, i want to know whether the hazy surface is on inside or outside. so far i felt it to be on inner surface of the headlight.

also let me know where can you actually buy this. is it available in accessory shops or in some hyper market from where it can be bought.

@Mir, if u find that hazy surface inside, please get your headlights replaced as this is covered under warranty i guess.. That is moisture or water seeping in the headlight!

This plastic / fibre headlight glass is not optimal. I have hazy surface inside both the headlights.
Just to mention i had to drive in heavy rains on Saturday night during which I had hell of problem related to road visibility. I had to cover some 25 kms highway to reach home. A need for additional lights apart from the headlights was badly felt. Apart from heavy rains under normal conditions headlights are good and generally enough.

I am planning to install Front fog lamps on my car by this year end.
Both for utility & the looks & appeal and i want it to work with the switch stalks mounted on the steering column.

I've seen pics in this forum istelf where there the job done was just about acceptable.

Any opinions??

Your headlights should not fog up from the inside ! this could be because they ahve a leak in the rubber round the back ..or even they must have some sort of vent to get rid of condensation .I will ask around

Hi,

I have changed the stock headlamp to Philips Extreme Vision last weekend.I got it for Rs 1100/-. The light is much better now, and the coverage is much better. I have checked the voltage and watt rating and found it to be the same as the stock lamp and the stock lamps are also from Philips.
There is also Philips Clear Vision but it will not fit into Logan as our bulbs are of H4 type whereas the clear vision is of H11 type.
However the light of Extreme vision is white compared to the stock lamp, however it is not a pure white light.

With Regards,
Kaustuv Goswami.

Hey Guys,

I was catching up on the posts on head lamps and saw some stuff on white lights.... just wanted to point out that in Roads and Highway lighting design, white light is always avoided in areas that get foggy conditions... i believe it's because of visibility issues... shouldn't the same apply for car head lamps ?

Hi,

Yesterday night I was driving on a very bad road with lot of dust around. The Philips Extreme Vision lamp has been very helpful and the light was excellent. The visibility has been very good, much better than the stock lamp.

What are the changes necessary to put in a 90/100 setup? Fuses/relays need to be changed?

I have used Philips Extreme Vision and Philips Clear Vision. Both these lamps are available in the same configuration as that of the standard lamp being provided which is also from Philips. These lamps will fit into the existing setup and no change will be required. I have found extreme vision better than clear vision in terms of coverage area. There is a high end variety called Philips Diamond Vision but I am not much aware of the same.

However, I feel that the reflector provided is not of a very high quality compared to cars like Ford Fiesta and Fiat Linea. In fact, it seems that the reflector of Manza and Indica Vista is good. I am searching for a high quality reflector setup for Logan but I have not come across any as of now.

Kaustuv
