Complaint against Engine overhaul

Respected Sir/Madam,
We are the owners of 5 Mahindra Logan 1.5 DLX vehicles (KA03 D 6857/6859/6861/6871/6872) since August 2010.
On April 23, while the vehicle (KA03 D 6872) was moving on heavy flooded road on Frazer town (BANGALORE), it got stopped suddenly and been
towed to India Garage workshop, Whitefield road, Bangalore. We had been told there; the problem
was with the injectors and would be explained in detail in few days. After
few days we were told that the engine oil is mixed with water, and
the engine must be overhauled. And the charges they
projected is around `80000/-. We were really shocked.
All the services of our vehicles were done properly within date and
kilometers and with India Garage. The vehicle is covered under warranty. So far there were no major complaints.
We asked them, it should be covered under warranty since the vehicle was in good
condition until the previous service done by them. But they refused.
Now, we are really confused where to complain about it. We haven’t got any report about the complaint till date.
We require the company’s help on this regard.

Uday.. Welcome to this forum.

I read through post and have couple of questions.

1) What is heavy flooded road? ( Is it water logged road?)
2) Did water seep into engine?

Did you talk with Mahindra customer care to get their opinion on this?

You can write to customercare@mahindra.com to get their reply. Once you mail they will create a complaint number and you keep following it up with them till your issue gets resolved.
Also check if your insurance is able to cover the over hauling cost.

Note: From your post I have a feeling that you are thinking that this forum is hosted by Mahindra. But this forum is not hosted by Mahindra people, but by users of Logan/Verito like you and me. Here people can suggest as what are the best ways to handle a given scenario.

This happens - cars should NOT be driven thru flooded roads. There is always a risk of water entering the engine thru the exhaust or the intake side.

Dear Sir/Madam,



This is with reference to the failure of delivery of our vehicle bearing register number KA03 D 6872 (Job order 9562) by your company.

This is the second time our vehicle coming for same technical problem. Kindly find the below trial mail dated Wednesday, May 11, 2011 4:36 PM for your reference.
As we had handed over the vehicle on 18th October 2011 at your Automobile Service centre for tappet noise and was promised that the delivery would take place within 24th of October 2011.

I am sorry to inform you that not only vehicle has been delivered till date, but there has been no attempt on the part of your company to explain the work status.

It is becoming an unbearable nuisance to be tolerated any more. I may be forced to take legal action if you fail to respond to my mail soon.

I want to mention that in all these days none of my calls to the Service Advisor Ms. Swetha & Mr. Surendra were answered and explained.

In all the years that we have relied on your company, this is the second time that we have encountered such a big problem.

I hope you will look into the matter immediately and ensure that the vehicle is delivered positively by 26th of this month.

I am enclosing a copy of the job order for your convenience.
