| Guys, What is the ideal time interval to clean the air filters in our cars? I mean the handbook informs us to change the air filter after every 5000 km, but during this interval what is the best way to keep this filter clean and how is my question. I thought of cleaning it with pressurized air at the petrol pumps after every 1000km that we cover. What are the other ways to keep it clean? | |

| Sid, 1000 to 1200 kms is good interval for cleaning of air flter. But for for cleaning instead of using pressurised air, i will suggest you to use vacuum pumps available at service centres & to use it from front face from where the air is entering the element. You will be amazed how much clean your filter will be. When i suggested the same to my mechanic, he was not in favour, but when insisted , he was shocked after the result. As the filter was clean as good as new one.
Try this. I'm sure you 'll love this.

Vabs Vabs 1981, thanks for your reply, Yes indeed there was a remarkable improvement in the pickup of my vehicle once I got it cleaned. I cleaned it my self using a blower that I had at home. The next time I shall use the vacuum trick that you advice. Can one use a vacuum cleaner available for domestic purpose for cleaning the air filter? | |
