Logan 1.6... No More??

They have removed the price listing for the 1.6 variant from the website! And there is no 1.4 GLS available either. So, is this now the end? I now have an out of production variant! Even the EDGE CONNECT is no longer available in 1.6! This also means they have done away with ABS and Airbags for all petrol models. Maybe we need another thread to discuss this.

1.6 production is stopped...... this is news.... What is happening? this may be true.

Logan 1.6 seems to be discontinued.

May be because of below reasons, in my peresonal opinion:
- Less buyers for logan
- Even less buyers for 1.6
- 1.6 is priced at a way where company can not reduce on cost the way features are being offered in the machine, but still it is a bit overpriced when it comes to competition and indian buyer mind frame.

I just hope there is no problem with maintenance and service. I'm definitely very happy with my car as of now.

Hey could this be because of the massive responce in Europe that they cannot supply the 1600 Motor ?
Anyway I personaly would not buy the 1600 it is only about 12 kmh faster and from 0 to 100 aso ony 2 seconds faster it uses more fuel and Is heavier
so you have made the right decision with the 1400

This might be true in Europe where only the Engine is different.

In India, the stupid marketing ensured that ABS+EBD and Airbags were only available in the top end 1.6 variant.

If you bought a 1.4, then no abs and airbags. This is why I bought a 1.6. The safety is worth the extra premium I believe..

this is were you should show a force here on the forum and start demanding safety on the scale of Europe .I have said this once before Do they think that Indian heads and bones are strongerthan us Eropeans and do not need all the safety features

Make a poll or Bulk email all of your members giving them a address to write to and have the complaint properly formulated ! and dont send it to Mahindra sent it to Renault

I get you Stuart but the problem here is not with Renault, its with all other manufacturers! No one including Maruti Suzuki India's Largest Car Manufacturer gives Airbags or ABS or such features in all cars or models! Yes we should have a petition but to the Government of India and not Renault, they are just following suit!

It is no big deal for Renault to provide it as an option on all models. The top end models do not have ABS+Airbags. It is an option. And the option is available only if you buy a top end model.

Same with all manufacturers. Amazingly silly..

In India people do not crave for safety at first place. I have seen very few buyers who actually seek safety features in the vehicle. There are some who want safety but then they are different class of owners, generally those who can shell out amounts for the safety features to be in their machines. Selling community has made it a point to make it clear that SAFETY = EXTRA MONEY.

The reason according to me:
Most of the cars are designed to run in city. As the situation goes within city one can not exceed 40 kmph be it any city. At such meagre speed it is not deemed necessary for buyers to heavily demand ABS, Air Bags etc...
In most of countries there are broad motorways within city also. Such motorways are meant for high speed driving and safety concerns are day to day routine activities.

In India such safety features are needed mostly on highways. But then normally highway drive constitute about 20% of the overall drive. Now those who have more of highway touring are the ones who seek safety features and are ready to pay more.

Government cares a damn in worlds second largest pupulated country. They actually would be looking to bring population down. This is evident from the fact that no public transport vehicle has got even 5% of safety norms in place.

I would say if government is too curious it must enforce norms starting with Maruti Suzuki in first place dictating SAFETY FEATURES = FREE FEATURES and NO SAFETY FEATURES = MANUFACTURER LIABLE TO PAY ALL LOSSES WIHOUT ANY FURTHER LEGAL COMPLICATIONS.

True and the cost of ABS is NOTHING its so cheap and most accident with deaths are in the citys and at low speeds because people dont bother with seat belts (you pay a 100€ fine over here) only once has my ABS come on in my ROVER 825 i had to do a full brake and I was able to steer the car out the way of the one that had pulled out in front only once but worth having

I've written to Mr. Nalin Mehta (COO of Mahindra Renault). He was extremely helpful when I bought the car and had a few delivery issues. Let's see if he responds..

It might make sense to make ABS and EBD available in 1.4. The Palio 1.6 also did not work in India. I still think Logan 1.4 would survive in the Indian market. I don't have the sales figure, but I do get to see lot of new Logans on road.

Maybe saumil can ask them on behalf of the forum?

I believe all the mahindra renault management drive around in Scorpios like all mahindra management?

The manager of the dealership where I got my Logan does drive around in a Logan DLS (no ABS).

As far as ABS goes, I believe the component is imported only after you order it. At least this was the case with the delivery of my Logan. It took close to 5 weeks for them to import and integrate it.

Has the situation changed now?

I was smelling something similar and its now started happening guys..... for the last 6 months I was screaming like anything about problems with Logan.

1.5 DLS is also gone and replaced by high price 1.5 DLS-ABS

Diesel varients available are: 1.5 DLE, 1.5 DLX, 1.5 DLS-ABS
Petrol varients available are: 1.4 GL, 1.4 GLE, 1.4 GLX, 1.6 GLX-CNG (On Order Only)

They are (Mahindra) is bundling away this venture and now we are on Renaults mercy. Look at the funny comparison page they have updated for parts price http://www.mahindrarenault.com/logan_partsprice_diesel.html, it seems they have accepted the truth of Logan not being a cheaper option any more.

The bottom line is I made a mistake purchasing Logan and now paying the price for that, I cant blame any one else for this.
