Wiper broken

Hi all

Yesterday when I was driving in rain, suddenly the Right side stopped functioning, tere was a sound of something breaking. With great difficulty I drove home and checked.

The Link connecting the wiper and the wiper motor is broken. Unfortunately the part the Authorised service center ( At Quilon - Where I was yesterday) doesn't have item in stock. No single local automobile store the item.

Anybody faced similar issues earlier?

Havent faced such a situation so far.
Is it possible that the wiper was manhandled by someone when it was parked. Wiper joints are pretty strong otherwise as far as I know.

This is new.. Havent heard this from anyone else so far. Like Surya said, the damage must have been done..

I found one blog mentioning the same issue. Mine too broke at the same point.

My Observations

1. There was as thuk sound during wiping, i remember it was when the wiper returns from the top position.
2. We got the arm welded ( with an additional iron piece fixed inside for reinforcement. and fixed back.
3. Observed that the thuk sound is still present and the reason is the arm touching the rotating part.
4. Touching point is very close to the breakage spot.

Time being the issue looks solved.Only problems are the sound and touching issue.

However I am planning to remove and slightly straighten the portion.

Will update the results later.
