1.4 glx 10,900kms 3yr old ownership report

Its been 3 years .Ive driven only in NCR never taken it out on a highway.its done 10,900kms.First the negatives .Ive had couple of repairs done
1)rattle on the rear left door
2)fan controls became free and stopped working
3)fuel filler cap wouldn't open
4)the ac is noisy (not fixed )

I drive mostly in heavy delhi traffic and it gives me around 10Kmpl.Not satisfied with the engine at all i mean i still own a 13year old 800 and i feel its engine is far more responsive.The engine is a major let down in this car its neither economical nor powerful,it doesnt liked to be revved either starts feeling coarse around 3000rpm.The clutch is heavy but since i've upgraded from the 800 i dont really find it cumbersome .

This car has lots of space my friends love the back seat.This car can seat 5 in comfort and the AC can easily cool them in delhi summers thats 47 degree Celsius at 3 in the afternoon!!.However when you have 5 ppl in the car with AC on the performance is appalling and kinda embarrassing ,acceleration is nearly non existent.It was designed to be a 5 seater they should atleast give it sufficient power to haul them.While climbing a flyover the engine losses speed very quickly my 800 fairs better in this respect .
While driving alone the performance is just about adequate.
It has very good visibility with big windows giving it a nice airy
feeling and making it easy to park. like the heavy power steering .
Petrol 1.4 engine is its achilles heel satisfied with the rest of the car.

I can tell you why the car has no power ! it still is not run in you notice at a bout 30000 that the car is running smooth
10000 km is just to early why have you bought a car at all ? you are only driving an average of 11 km a day .I am amazed the car stands up to this and the batterey not to say the least

True.i dont use the car much . the public transport system is very crowded plus its HOT.so i bought the cheapest sedan in the market to get me from A to B.30k cant wait that long .at this rate 30k will take another 6 years .when i do use it i drive around 200kms a week.Any tips to speed up the run-in process?

You could put it up on bricks and leave it in 3rd gear running all night
or you could drive to Germany and visit me bringing some curry and other wonderfull Indian spices
Realy though go for a blast down the motorway drive to a place about 500 km away have a small holiday your car will love you for it

Going off topic here but yeah road trip across Europe is on my TO DO LIST.Especially stelvio pass rated the best driving road in the world by TOPGEAR.But by no chance will i do that in my logan, probably a stolen Ferrari 599GTO.

i would say engine does not lack power but is very much just near to sufficient specially with ac on maximum speed. this is for 1.4 petrol engine.

there was no harm in little bit of extra oomph factor just to give taste of some pick up thrill. but its absent.

My 1.6 GLSx just crossed 27k last month. It's been 20 months since I got it. And either I have gotten better at making the car accelerate faster or the engine is responding better.

Dunno which... but it definitely moves better than when I got it.

I jhave always stated on this forum that it takes at least up to 30000 km before the logan is at its best and you will feal the difference immensly

1.4 Engine Suck: I totally agree. I also have a Maruti 800 and it feels like a race car when compared to the logan.

In Gear Acceleration: It is really a sad story, I have done 22000kms, and no matter what, It would not move until you rev it above 2200-2500, No matter which gear you are in...

Heavy Clutch: Get the Clutch wire replaced. Believe me, You will be amazed to see the difference...

Average pretty Average: It varies, Drive a little more, Cross Ard 15000 kms and she will come in her elements. I started filling early, at 5am in the morning, And it improved by 2 kmpl Try it sometime.....

Problem is, Logan has an uneven torque spread, Specially below 2000rpm, and by the time you rev it to 3000, the gear runs out...I have accepted this fact and i keep it only to haul ppl...For Fun though.....Its my lil pocket rocket aka 800

I haven't driven a 1.4 but I don't see anything like this in my 1.6 at all. Very responsive now.

What about other 1.4 owners?

Hehehehehe....it worked for me stu...it worked....but for the last few fills, it isnt....... Dang it, will have to figure out another way to save some fuel.....

Try filling up at Night when the temp is lower and the filling station assistant is sleepy and drive off without paying thats as cheap as you can get ,,,(as long as you dont get caught on CCTV)

I'll go looking for a filling station in the dead of night... love the suggestions flying about.... ! Anyways... I've completed 18000 on my 1.4. Bought it in March 2009.

I must say it feels more responsive than before. It did start easing out after 10,000. I push it hard every few months on a long drives, usually 400-500 kms range one way. I do feel that the car needs proper running in. Long drives on highways are good for you as well as the car !

have every intention of enjoying the drives beyond 30,000 kms. I also admit that it's fun to drive my wife's 'Alto' ones in a while !

Will be driving down to Saputara in gujarat from Pune this month !.. in the Logan of course !!!

Saputara may get a bit muddy in rains. Take care.
Couple of years back there were GSM signal issues in the region. Don't quite know how is it now-a-days.

My problems with fuel economy are gone .ive been getting around 14kmpl in the city for the past 3 fill ups.maybe its the engine running in or maybe its the fuel station or maybe both .

performance has improved slightly hoping for a bigger increase .finally after 14.5KMs im satisfied with the car.but the engine still doesn't like to be ripped took it above 3000rpm its pretty noisy.

Thats only because of the lack of soundproofing ! If you took the sound proofing out of a Mercedes it would also be loud
Take the car out and Push it to its limits in 3rd gear you will be surprised at its Power It needs to be pushed a bit !
and dont worry you cannot over rev the engine as it is Controlled and will not let you over rev it
