Hello All,
I purchased a Mahindra Logan 1.4 GLX in Oct 2013 in Hyderabad, with about 21,000 km on the odometer.
The original owner had fitted an LPG gas kit. After 2 months of using both LPG and petrol, I decided not to use LPG any more, as every 5-8 drives, there was a minor explosion. Moreover, various sources seemed to suggest that using LPG harms the engine in the long run. Switching over to petrol, there were no further explosions.
Even though I did not use LPG fuel any more, I was lazy enough to remove the gas tank and associated equipment only recently. The car has now run for about 26,000 km. I want to know what would be the right price for the Econ 55-60 KG LPG tank and associated Lovato metering / controlling equipment.
I am planning a road trip in a few days. On a thorough check at Mahindra First Choice Service (Madinaguda, Hyderabad), they told me about the following problems:
1. Timing cover oil leak: To rectify, replace sealant black at INR 600. However, the engine needs to be removed and refitted for this task. This removal/refitment will be charged at INR 2,000.
2. Worn rear LH wheel bearing: To rectify, replace bearing at INR 2,650
3. Damaged LH drive shaft
boot: To rectify, replace
boot at INR 1,900
4. Air filter fasteners broken (it is held together with a wire): To rectify, replace air filter assembly. They have not been able to find and quote the price yet.
5. Accelerator cable getting stuck: To rectify, replace cable assembly at INR 450
Labour charges are not included (apart from point 1). I guess another 20-25% will be added for labour.
My queries:
1. Are there any questions that I can ask to validate the diagnosis?
2. Do the part prices look reasonable?
3. Can you please give me an idea of the cost of air filter assembly for 1.4 GLX?
4. Are there any good, trusted service centers or mechanics in north-west Hyderabad for 1.4 GLX?
I would look forward to guidance from you all. Thanking you in advance.
Kind regards
Sugato Deb
