Basically there is a RIFD chip implanted in the key, without which the engine will crank but not start. I have a duplicate key which will open the doors and boot, but not start the car. Cost only Rs.150/-. Someone has to figure out how to overcome this. regards If someone in general could figure out how to overcome this, the immobilizer would be rendered useless. It seems that as a part of the initial Mahindra-Renault, some items were imported than developing locally. In that case, the only option is to continue sourcing it from there. Each manufacturer keeps a record of the key code, matched to the chip value (frequency). Therefore, when you lose a key, you have to contact the manufacturer and you get the replacement. If Mahindra wishes to change the source to local, it would mean a re-programming of the ECU with the new immobilizer system. Quite a task if you ask me. Also, as a additional information, the purpose of immobilizer is to cut-off fuel supply if a wrong key is used to start the car. | |

| Folks,
Base on the above posts, I was curious to know how this is done. Although, I haven't done this myself. A quick finding on this yielded me the below link.
http://immo-code.com/icc_pin_code_renault_dacia.html
This suggests the immobilizer emergency code may be co-related to the serial number from label inside the key, model make, year of manufacture and the make of immobilizer.
NOTE: This is just for getting a better understanding.
Cheers! | |
