I have provided the local dealer with the product code 57-0356. It seems to be the closest match. However I am waiting for a response them. In the meantime if someone could validate whether this is the right match or not, it would be really helpful.

Finally there is some good news for the 1.6 owners. I have been able to get a K&N filter. I have procured the same from Bangalore. However, I have not yet received the same. It is still there with the person. I will get it during the weekend. I will let you know the details then.
The price is Rs 11,000/- and the installation charges in Kolkata is Rs 1000/-. So the total price will come to Rs 12,000/-. I will let you know the part number and other details next week.

Hi,

I think the one for 1.6 will also fit in 1.4. Regarding the money factor, it seems that in the long run, K&N filter will save a lot of money. Reason being, improvement in mileage and it is one time affair. K&N gives a guarantee of 1,00,000 miles which means that we don't need to change filter after every 10,000 Kms as with the OEM filters. A 1000 Rs installation charge is absurd. The A.S.S charges less that a tenth of that amount to replace an air filter.

So you are spending Rs 12K. That would have bought you 30 of the "stock" air filters - good for 3 lac Km's of driving.

IMHO - you are being ripped off. The K&N filters have no real benefits and will actually do more harm than good (by letting in more dirt into your engine).

Also, the K&N filters require a proprietary cleaning kit (for them to be cleaned and re-used every 10,000 Km). You'll spend more on that. A stock filter is the best choice - don't be taken in by marketing claims.

Hi,

I have got the filter fitted today. The work has been done quite well. I will post the photo of the same soon. I will have to take a drive in the highway to actually judge the difference. However, it seems that the engine has been somewhat smoother and the acceleration has increased somewhat. I will provide a detailed update after a highway drive.
