Insurance covers any damage that occurs to your vehicle because of any accident, be it dent or scratch. But plastic parts are not covered and glass parts are not covered 100%. Please consult tour insurance brochure for the exact percentage covered for glass materials. But bro, one thing u have to keep in mind that what ever damage u are claiminG INSURANCE FOR, SHOULD appear to have occurred because of accident i.e at one single insurance claim you cannot ask to claim insurance for repairing dents/scratches at different parts of the car which in no way can occur at the same time because of an accident. If you have dent at the rear and also at the front you have to make a story saying that because of the hit from the back ur car moved front and hit something else in the front which caused the front dent. Also keep in mind when u r claiming insurance for any damage, a person from the insurance company will come to inspect the car to see if there is any other damage, just to make sure that you do not claim for the that other damage later. So in case you need to claim for that, u have to urself make additional damage on that area to claim insurance for that part. The explanation I gave here is from the experience I have while claiming insurance for my Maruti 800. Hope this helps.

Also, Keep in mind the cost. Remember, you get a No-Claim Bonus at the end of the year if you havent made a claim. Calculate tat amount and compare it with the cost of your repair work. Remember, if you dont use your insurance, you get a higher percentage of No-Claim Bonus next year.. So be calculative.
To Summarize, what i mean is for eg. If clearing the dent is a cost of Rs. 2000, and your No-Claim bonus is about Rs. 3500, No pt using the insurance for that...

As we are discussing on the insurance peice, during first year car was insured with ICICI prudential, for renewal they asked me for a high amount above 10k, i checked around got offers from Tata Aig and Bajaj Allianz, in the end bajaj was cheaper so i got the 2nd year insurance coverage from them costed around 8.9k.

No wonder the dealer said that the insurance will have to be bought

compulsorily from them at the time of purchasing the car.

Hey Dushie I have Bajaj Allianz insurance right from the beginning (Rs 21,000). I did 'nt claim any insurance, but when I renewed it a few months back they charged 13.5k. So next year I think I have to switch to a different one to get more reduction.

7900?

I just paid 13k to Royal Sundaram.

Does Reliance have a cashless facility with your workshop?

After recurring bad experiences with Reliance mobile, I took a decision to have nothing to do with anything Reliance. Even to the extent of avoiding their super markets. Smile

Its better to go for in-house insurance company. The 'claims' process will be go smoothly.

Hey RDR.......They do have the cashless facility......They are the inhouse insurance company.......

You paid 13k?? for 2nd yr insurance?? You didnt ask for no claim bonus??

Let me give you a tip....in India, In todays time....no matter wat you buy, Check for discount....even if it a Ciggrette(kidding)...But ask.....and you ll get it 8 times out of 10............

No NCB because I had a claim.. front left got clipped by a govt. jeep driven by a contract driver and the front left fender, bumper and lights on the left had to be replaced.

I was aware that reliance was offering a low premium but I am a no-reliance person.. Smile

What was the car's assessed value? Did it tally with what the other companies valued it?

I've come across many companies luring me with lower insurance premium, but then differing in the assessed value of the car.
