Hey guys,

Are u experiencing too much warming inside the car when it remains under the sun for long time. Infact the inside gets unbearably hot. This is not because I don't have glass films, but due to improper ceiling insulation I think. What have u done to overcome this. Please share.I feel like getting burnt myself once I get into my car parked under the sun for long.

Yea! I got a nice windscreen sun film installed too!! It cost em about Rs.7000 but it is worth it! It still does get heated under the sun but that will happen with all cars! The sun is very hot in our part of the World rite!!

I think ceiling insulation is perfect as it well covered and about 1' thick, the problems are windows .... if you need to protect heat coming inside then use the highest quality sun control films which can block UV's and heat too.

And yes dont forget to cover front & rear glass with color less similar films.

The reason is front Window mostly. It has no sunfilm and all IR that gets in is reflected back by the interior at a longer wavelength which is now retained by the glass windows. So cealing may not have any big roll to play. The culprit could most probably be the front wind screen.

Nayandeep ... go back to AutoSpeed. He can show you a wide range of films at different price points. I can't remember what brand I used ... it was so long ago ...

Also check out the clear film for front windshield that cuts upto 80% solar radiation heat, but doesnot obstruct visibility at all. This one is a bit expensive (it will cost as much as the film for the rest of the vehicle), and needs a specialist to install as it is in a single sheet and needs a heatgun to form it to the windshield shape. But worth it as the maximum heat enters from the unfilmed front windshield.

But the rest of the vehicle can be filmed at a pretty reasonable cost.

In this unusally hot season, I am grateful for my light coloured beige Logan!

I went to Xtreme today at Salt Lake. They will charge 2200 bucks for Garware topcool. Auto Speed gave an estimate of 2800-3000 for the same. I will surely go to Xtreme. I would like to put a film on the windscreen. But I don't want to remove the stickers of my previous companies from the windshield Smile

I'm using 3M film all round.
2 way sunshades for front glass when parked. purchased from Big BAzaar for 250 bucks.

Serves the purpose even when i park in broad sunlight.

On REALLY hot days, need to search for a tree due to black's affinity for the sun Razz

Guys, take my word on this one. It is not the front windscreen alone cuasing all these unrest.

i have a silver foil detachable sun saver screen which i put on the front window whenever the car is parked in sun. usually every sunday as the place where i stay car park is open and in sun. rest of the days i have a good cool parking under the building where i work.

i have noticed that due to covering the front screen i am a bit saved from dash and steering getting excessive hot but the temperature within the car remains equal hot and no releif.

A.C. cooling starts showing effect after some 10 mins of running on full power in these circumstances.

car gets burning hot. temperatures outside are around 41 centigrade.

this happens in all cars and not just logan.

but some addon accessory on insulation front in any car can help a bit, though not drastically.

the best way it would, i believe help is by keeping cool A.C. air even cooler once A.C. effect starts.

so insulation could be effective. however i havent seen any one try it so far.

another way to escape a bit is to keep the door windows open a little bit when car is parked. however this has its safety concerns tied.

the excessive heat will surely dmage the finish of dash and other stuff inside and very soon the interiors could fade off.

Look, nothing is going keep cool forever in direct sunlight, even if it is a good thermos flask! After a few hours of exposure, you are certainly going to get heat buildup inside the closed space of the passenger cabin.

All this additional insulation and window film just goes to slow down the process, so that the Airconditioning can cope with the heat gain. Where the film and insulation will help is when you are already in the vehicle with the AC on and cooling things down.

With the AC off it is inevitible for the vehicle to reach the ambient temperature in a few hours.

I also remember reading an article in one of the newspapers couple of years back wherein it was metioned that brown coloured vehicles have a high percentage of being invloved in an accident. I think white or silver coloured vehicles had the least percentage of being involved in an accident.

Today i installed Garware Icecool Shield on the rear and side windows. I know its meant for the windscreen only. But considerigni its transperancy heat rejection factor I chose this one. The total cost was Rs 4200. Now the headlights from the back seem to be just dim lights, yet no loss of visual transmission. However I heven't yet tested its heat rejection power which I will test tomorrow while going to office.

Please do let us know abt the heat rejection. In case cops get cracking on sunfilms, once the regulation is plassed, we may have to consider a changeover ::sad:: [As of now most RTO's approve only Garware sunfilms]
