| I have a Logan GLX 1.4, completed 10500 km.
I am having starting problem with my vehicle for the past couple of months. I had been to the service centre and they suggested that as my vehicle does not run much, hence the battery gets discharged, and hence this problem.
However, I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that the problem has worsened even though my car runs everyday at least 5 - 10 kms.
Friends.. Any suggestions..

| Dear Roy,
when you start the vehicle will the vehicle hesitate to start. If yes how many times you apply starter for starting .My suggesion is clean the air filter some dust will deposited in the air filter starting problem may occur. Check the battery is it in full charge condition. Check the spark plug area any water deposit in this area may also cause starting problems. And other one is you fuel if the fuel having some mixing then also started has created problems

| I should have mentioned another point... I only have this problem during vehicle startup.. Once the vehicle starts running there is not further problem.
During startup I have to try at least 7 - 8 times. I have to turn the key for starting and have to simultaneously press the accelerator to startup the vehicle.
I will try with the air filter as suggested..
Thanks Thomas... | |

| Dear roy
Air filter cleaning dont allow to go any dust or other material inside the engine. When you open the cover pls cover the hole that sucks the air inside the engine. Then the culprit is petrol mixed with water or the airfilter nothing else dont worry and clean the inside of engine regularly.

| The battery is probably too weak to hold charge. You will have to replace it. | |

I have checked the battery.. There are indicators marked "replace" (white indicator), "recharge" (red indicator) and "ok" (green indicator) and the car battery shows ok (the green indicator is visible).. Do I still have to worry about the battery... Anyways I am cleaning the air filter. My original air filter was replaced about an year back.. but I was still preserving it. Today I took out the air filter which was fitted in my car and it turned out to be something very flimsy. So I am going to put back my original air filter after thorough cleaning and drying.. I have already cleaned it with a mild soap solution and have left it to dry.. I hope it is okay to re use my air filter.. Well I took care to put the cover back on so that dust doesn't enter the engine... I hope it works fine now..

| Please don't reuse the air filter if its not clean. Green indicator on the battery seems good enough. | |
