hi i am having gls1.6 petrol logan. i have bought it from koncept, noida. its a month old car. i am facing a basic problem in gear changing from any front gear to back gear, a peculiar disturbing noise comes.i took it for my 1st srvice & explained them about the same. finally at the end of the day they logged a complained with mahindra for its solution. they justified by showing all the new cars in their showroom having the same noise problem. their jugad solution is that first i have put the first gear then back gear. they even told me that many more have come up this problem.
if their existing new cars at show room is having the same problem then they should not sell thei further cars.
but when i test drived logan, i didnt faced such kind of probelm or may be i had not noticed it.
i confirm that even after pressing complete cluch peddle the noise come.
i wanted to know is any one facing such kind problem. any one can suggest me what to do on it??????

Just wait 10 seconds from stopping b4 you place it into reverse Gear
AND push the lever right over to the right

Yes this comes sometimes, especially when one switches to the reverse gear a thud kind of noise....that seems to be another trademark on the noise front...though this noise doesnt seem to cause any other mechanical problem...

The reverse gear and the first gears are on the same shaft so they take a couple of seconds to be ready to change from one to the other ...Just wait and it is ok

thanks to all of you to respond . as asked by sAuMiL for knowing my point in detail its like this.
you start your car, if you try to put back gear then you can feel & hear that churning noise. i once again clear this noise do come after pressing complete cluch.

secondly, say i am driving. after some time if i want to reverse my car. i stop it at 0 speed, which means dead stop. i press cluch completely then pull back gear that disturbing noise comes.

well ashish, if this unwanted noise is there, may be not now but it will deteriorate the concerning part at much faster pace.

my service people do accept this problem. according to them if i want to change my gear to reverse gear, to avoid the noise, i should move to first gear then reverse gear.

i cant live this irritating noise every time i change to reverse gear. if any one can suggest any platform to make my problem loud & clear to these manufacturers of this car. i feel like putting this as PIL.

I have this as well I found out that if you press the gear lever (HARDER) across to the right and then into reverse gear !!
IT WORKS !!!! TRY IT you need to push the lever harder across to the right .I need to do this as well

thanks for your response. i feel may be your car manufacturing may be different as renault in INDIA is rolling his cars with mahindra.

what i ment to say is,
in INDIA renault & mahindra is having JV to manufacture & sell this car. what dealer has told me is design, engine & few more inputs renault is doing and remaining things mahindra is providing. the manufacturing platform changes, which is not be in your case.

the forward/ front gears are smooth enough.

Yes but 90% is Renault including Engine & Gearbox

well here the JV is 51% & 49% between them either ways. the communication among us started regarding the back gear problem what i am facing. on the same problem if some one can comment or suggest shall be be appreciated.

When pulling the gear shift into Reverse Gear, if you notice, it may not have actually travelled fully into the gear slot, lightly release the clutch slowly while maintaining a pull on the on the Gear Shift. You will find that the Gear shift will move back another 5mm. This is the fully seated position.

If you try to fully reverse the clutch before doing this, the Reverse Gear slips, causing the noise

Surinder which car you were driving earlier? Also I never heard this problem from any one, may be it just need some fine tuning, I suggest you to visit Bhasin Motors Service in Delhi.

I would also suggest you to talk to Mr. Jayant from Mahindra at - 9810284503 and explain him feedback you got from Koncept.

no such issues in m car, no noises and the gears move smoothly, better to get ur car checked up, as no other user's have reported a similar issue till not in India
