Hi everyone...i am new member to this blog but very old owner of my logan 1.4 petrol version.

I bought my can in Sept'2007 and after few thousand KM I converted to CNG. Today i have clocked 98,000 KM on CNG.

My ownership experience was a bit mix bag but in overall experience i still feel it is pleasant one. Reason may be it is single owner driven car. I proudly can say that Logan is better engineered car than other peers. My conclusion is based on following experience:

1. Have run almost 80% of my total KM on highway. It has never halted on the highway due to any mechanical or electrical fault.
2. Though the CNG version is not launched by company it ran till date very smoothly on CNG.
3. It only costed me regular maintenance of oil and coolant till 75,000 KM
4. On highway it runs smoothly and remain planted at higher speed.
5. AC is reasonably good.

After 75,000 KM it costed me following expenses.

1. Clutch plate changed after 75000 KM
2. Battery changed after 98000 KM
3. Timing belt changed after 96000 KM

Followings are some of my bad experience with Logan

1. door opening and closing is not very smooth. I understand the logic behind intermittent opening of the door but it is always painful when my mother or any other old age person wants to open or close the door.
2. Air filter and mixing port quality is poor
3. Fuel pump is of inferior quality luckily i am running on dual fuel so i am postponing the replacement of fuel pump
4. Not happy with steering control i feel it is very hard compare to other similar car.

So folks this is my story with Logan...keep in touch.

because it troubled me twice - once at 75000 km and now at 95000 km. earlier i fixed up my problem at carnation but now it seems the replacement is inevitable. one of my friend also replaced fuel pump twice since in the last three year.

Could this be due to using Bad fuel ! OR !!! filling up out of Cans ! Just a thought but your car has the same parts as Mine and we here in Europe do not seem to be having Fuelpump Problems

you are right but i ran my car everyday 2 km minimum on petrol. actually what happened during my last trip i switch over to petrol from CNG and thought of consuming all the old petrol and i ran till the last drop and then i switch over to CNG. mechanic says due to that reason pump must have run dry for some time and it must have given up.

Haaaaaaa You dried out the PUMP ! you have emptied the tank and the fuel was not there any-more so the PUMP sat in a dry environment which would allow the gaskets to dry up !!!! and also you will have dredged up all the crap from the bottom of the tankl !!!

but now it is not working - at least it is not working on petrol. and my mechanic concluded that you spoil your pump and you have to replace it. but honestly i will tell you it was my habit for last many months to empty old petrol from tank and refill with new and never realized that it can burn the pump away.

i forgot to mention that my car run on dual fuel. that means it can run on Petrol as well as on CNG. Now that i am facing fuel pump problem, i am using only CNG to run my car.

There are options where you can force the car to start on Gas as well in some systems BUT ITS ISNT REALLY RECOMMENDED. I have a company fitted Maruti Suzuki WagonR and its clearly written in the manual, unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, dont force start on CNG.

Hi Martin,
My logan is 5 years old and has done 39,000 kms on the odo. Till now i have not got the timing belt or water pump changed, The service guys also just service the car and hae not asked me to change it. It will take me a couple of years to reach 62k on the odo as its not being used much. When would you recommend to change the timing belt and water pump, till now i do not have any issues with the car and everything is going well.

160000 or 6 years for Diesel like wrote before ! the reason for saying years as well is because it can rot .So you can drive on for another 1 year .But then get it done because if it snaps it a capital damage !
