Dear Friends, I own Mahindra Renault Logan, Model: 1.5 DLE, Tordeo Red Colour, 2007 model.
Honestly speaking, I am enjoying the the driving and also happy to see the forum. Today I registered myself on this forum. Good information shared by participants.
I am having few questions, please advise.

1. My car ran 62000 KM's, as per the Engineer (AML-Kukatpally, Hyderabad) advised me that I can still drive another 5000 Km's. can anyone advise when can I change the tyres.

2. The engineer also advised to change the timing belt, but from Meru cab drivers, I came to know that the timing belt can be changed after 80000 Km's. which is the correct info. and also please advise how much will be the cost including labour of changing the timing belt.

3. what are the other things that I have to keep in mind while changing the timing belt.

4. The rear bumper also got cracks and a small hole on right side of the bumper and am planning to change the bumper. please advise.

I am getting the car serviced at AML-Kukatpally, Hyderabad for major repairs and Syed bhai auto garage at Masab Tank, Hyderabad for minor issues. Till now everything is fine. Can anyone advise the best mechanic for Logan cars.

your help in this regard is very helpful to me.
thanks in advance.

Hi Shabbir,

My replies to your queries.
1. If you are not seeing much wear in them, continue. But at high speeds and wet roads, be cautious. Post pictures and we will guide you more.

2. It is probable that what the Meru guys said may be true. I recently got my car serviced at 73000km and asked for a change of timing belt, as I was approaching 75000km. They changed it and sent the old one back to me. It looked quite in shape and no signs of any wear. I have kept it for now. It costs about 3900/-. On the safer side it is better to change at manufacturer recommended time. Implications of a failure are huge.

3. Let the dealer take care of that. They will do a decent job. In case your vehicle has always gone to Mahidra service each time, the response will be better. Generally, the timing belt has to be synchronised with camshafts, pistin movements, valve timings etc.

4. Photograph please. If you feel the need change it. Recently a Skoda Octavia banged my rear bumper at about 30 speed. My bumper survived with just a scuff mark. His headlamp was not so lucky. My tail pipe did the honours for him.

The attitude of Mahindra towards logan seems to have improved over past. probably has got to do wityh Mahindra selling the car on thier own now.

Get wheels rotated once in 5000km. If you have never done in the past, ask them to check EGR valve for cleaning. Should breathe more freely then.

Good Luck.
