| Vehicle service is due on the 26th of this month. It's the service at 2 years. I've driven about 32000 kms.
Major issues to be addressed are: 1) Whistling noise from the fan belt area. In fact this has been checked at the workshop before, and accessory belt, silencer and catalytic converter has been ruled out as the source of noise. They had suspected the Timing Belt area.
2) Suspension / wheel alignment: They had done the alignment few months back, as a possible remedy for noise while braking in reverse. Although the noise still persisted and the brake callipers and Foundation had to be changed. The Alignment report showed all entities aligned, but they did not Centralise the Steering. Now the vehicle is getting dragged to the left, and I also want the steering to be centralised.
3) Rattling from dashboard, mostly on rough roads.
Please do let me know if there is anything specific that I need to tell them or be careful about regarding the above issues or about anything general. Also When is the spark plug replacement due? Do they check the timing? Has anybody done internal cleaning along with seat cover washing from non-Mahindra agencies. And how much did it cost ?
Thanks in advance. | |

| The vehicle is still in the workshop since last saturday.
The whistling noise remedy is taking time.. and not going too well i must say. First they changed the Timing belt kit (changed the timing belt too)... but the noise was still there after refitting. Now they are suspecting the Water Pump bearing. So they are now changing the water pump kit. Unfortunately the spares are not there and an order has been placed. Expecting the spares by monday.
keeping my fingers crossed... caus workmanship is not their forte !

| @ Parag its a bad situation to be in, when you are the torchbearer in unknown realm. I have a general question to all, if you ever got to know this. Does Mahindra follow "Sharing of best practices" & "Sharing of case studies" amongst its dealers? (I know Toyota does) This practice helps to bring cases to the knowledge of may technicians which they wouldn't have experienced before. Going by the experience parag is facing, I think the dealer has no clue what is wrong (Of course neither am I ) | |

| yup.. bit of a fix... and this is the socond time they checked the vehicle to locate the source of noise. The vehicle was handling perfectly well.. it's just the abnormal whistling noise, that might have led to more serious damage.
Knowledge sharing is a good suggestion.. however, it's too much to ask for from M&M.
I just hope.. that with the water pump replacement the problem is resolved.... workmanship issue remains... am naturally quite worried... caus they have not been good with normal service jobs... and this is certainly a complex job.

| no idea yet... my vehicle is under warranty though. the timing belt job without warranty would have cost Rs 4000/- and above. I have no information on the water pump related costs.
As of today, they are still waiting for the spares to arrive.

| As of now, they have replaced the timing belt kit, along with the timing belt. I insisted on it. I've driven almost 34000 kms... a change would normally be due at 60000.
I would insist on seeing the old one, if they still have it. OR if they find that the water pump is the issue then they may reinstall the old one.. i hope not.
Another relief is that all spares are still original Renault. According to the engineers, M&M is still way off from localization.
BTW, I got to know that lot of components were cannibalized from the old ford tie up for the Scorpio development. The xylo engine immobilizer is totally based on the renault one in logan. They have added some features on it. The new Bolero is coming with this new immobilizer, and you can lock your vehicle through an sms !! Wonder why the Bolero ! Given M&M record with Tie-ups, we should know the fate of their Korean Tie-up.

| Finally got the vehicle today. All things seem okay for now.Have to drive it for a few days to check all issues.
They replaced the Timing Belt and the Tensioner (that's what they called it). Seems it was making some noise. The old belt didn't show any damage. Also Replaced the water pump. The water pump shaft was rusted. Lubrication stopped the noise, but they replaced the pump.
Every thing was done under warranty. In all i paid nearly Rs 3000/- for the service, that included regular service jobs , wheel alignment and the above mentioned jobs.

OR if they find that the water pump is the issue then they may reinstall the old one.. i hope not. My service center always ensures to wrap up replaced parts in a sealed cover and send them back to me. - Parag wrote:
