| Service at 36 months. Kms: 54000 Cost: Rs 13500/-
Parts changed: 1) Spark Plug set 2) Front Both shock Absorbers 3) Clutch cable
A week later- 4 Bridgestone turanza - Cost: Rs 18600/-
After another week - LHS Axle Boot covers (wheel side and gear box side) -Rs 6500/-
Nothing covered under warranty! Total cost in the span of two weeks = Rs 38600/- Not a pleasant experience
has anybody done anything with old shocks? I know there are shops that repair old leaked shocks.

| its easy to do the shocks ! you need a clamp to compress the spring take out the old shocks and release the clamp cheep as hell and why did you have to change them ?? no way can they be worn ! and the axel boot covers cant have been worn out they last at least 80000 ! Are you sure the garage didnt rip them on purpose Sound Funny to me ! | |

| Hi Parag, pls give breakup of cost. have they suggested timing belt and accessory belt change ?
also forget about trying to fix the struts. firstly its a sealed welded unit. then the oil , bushes , rings used by the turners is of pathetic quality. it'll simply give away suddenly. gabriel used to make for maruti800 , struts with screw type cap , those i have got repaired. For logan its not worth it. and also if its gonna last half a lac km , u might as well put OE part. busted axle boot as early as 3 yrs. ? Big chors these authorized service station guys are. regds, Kedar

| The front shockers dont feel hard when they are knackered ! the feel soft and the car will swim ! they are then just holding on the springs a test for the shockers is press down hard on the front wing ! and if it comes up and does not bounce they are Ok if it bounces a couple of times they are knackered | |

| Thanks guys for the inputs. Start, I'll see the youtube resource and take something out of it.
Those were fronts strus that were repleced. I didn't feel much of a difference while driving with the old ones. The new ones though feel less bumpy. So. may be they were actually gone... i did see oil marks on the sides.
And I've driven quite a bit on not so good roads mainly in the Konkan region.
The timing belt. I goyt it changed at around 3500 when they had to change the water pump 'caus it was making metal against metal friction noise. Both were done under warranty... The timing belt was still good, but I didn't want it to be opened after another 10-15 thousand.
I also won't trust repaired struts.

| small correction stuart.. the water pump had to be changed at 35000 not 3500... sorry about that. In fact, it was still okay..to me it looked like it could've done with some lubrication... but they preferred to change it.. .and it was under warranty, so I didn't mind... although in true Mahindra fashion, it took them three visits to the workshop to locate the noise... they suspected, the accessory belt, catalytic converter and few more things, before identifying the water pump as the source of noise. | |

| The Axle Boot covers gave way.. am not sure if the service center guys played mischief... unlikely 'caus I located the grease coming out of the boot cover while getting the tyres changed.. and there was a huge tear on the LHS boot cover.
Funny you should say it's early for it to give way at 54000 kms, because, the RHS Axel boots were changed at around 45000 kms... they do feel quite robust to touch... may be if you do a lot of out of city drives, it takes a bit of abuse.

| Wish to add two things: 1) Service center found it difficult to find the right size of Axle boot cover. The part number brought up a part that was for an Axle of smaller dia. and length was also smaller. They had to get it from some other service center. Does that mean that Verito has a different Axle and Boot cover.
2) I would try to upload the images of the old Struts. Want to know if they are the sealed type or cartridge type... and can they be overhauled ? If yes then I would love to take it up with Mahindra.

| Stuart,
I sent you the images. Also, the diagram of strut assembly above reminds me... the 'Tie Rod Ends' were also changed this time. the rubber cover showed shear and leaked grease.
Also, It doesn't seem like bitten off by rats (the tie rod ends and the boot covers). They are sharp shears along the folds.
