Are u planning to buy the petrol or diesel?
Renault Diesel 1.5 dCi is a gem. Does not complain and is very frugal.

My own vehicle is of November 2007. Saumil also has a 2007 model. We are quite content with it so far.

It will all depend on the seller and condition of the vehicloe in which he has maintained it.
I do not see any major thing that you will need to keep in mind for the Logan in particular. You may however adhere to some general guidelines when purchasing.

Service history of the vehicle. Dents on body / chassis.
Visible differences in paint shades (indicators of a repair job), straight line handling / stability.
Idling / revving feel of the engine.
Check all electricals for sure. Renault may have done it good, but Mahindra is not very capable at handling electricals.

I am sure there are other members on the forum who can give u more insights.

Pls check the engine if you are prefering diesel engine.Why you know because logan diesel vehicle is used regularly/ frequently due to the milage and the comfort of the vehicle.so open the engine hood and check any oil leakage and coolant leakage . Open the coolent can and check any oil is mixing with the coolent if any type of doubt pls check it with a mechanic. Check the engine guard means the iron portion just behind the gril if any accident occurs you can see the uneven nature of the gurard. Check the battery . Check the front tyres any uneven tyre wear and tear that means something wrong in suspension.When you take test drive you can notice in the steering if the car is pulling to side ways. Check the clutch pedal , brake pedal and acclerator pedeal if the rubber in the pedal is totally or partial torned that means the vehicle has used more . you cannot reley the odometer readings . check the under body and underside of the mats . When you go for the test drive pls go with a good mechanic and if the mechanic is not bothering about all pls tell these points and tell him to check. pls note it in a small diary if possible

AND !!!!! Put your foot onto the hole at the end of the exhaust pipe and have someone listen for exhaust coming out of holes and joints on the system (This is a good check!!!)
But if its a 2007 its Renault so you will be OK

I bought the Logan DLS 1.5 ABS, Jan 2007 model, registered in Dec 2011(last month). I bought the car from Mahindra First choice last week. It was run only 6500 KMs in 5 yrs time!!!

Here are some of the queries:

1) I drove the car for 550 kms on highway, i got avg of 14.5-15 KMPL only(90% on highway road at avg speed of 80-100 KMPH). any suggestion to improve speed or engine check.. At 2000 rpm i could go upto 80 km, at 2500 rpm upto 100 and 3000 rpm upto 120-130..

2) Is there is any concern as a deisel car ran only 6500 kms in 5 yrs time?? Generally said that deisel cars, if idle, gives too much expns and maintenance.

3) I am told that it has ABS but i am not able to figure out if its ABS.. Pl guide where and how to confirm ABS?

4) At 130 KMPH the steering vowels.

5) There is some "sssuuu" sound coming form dashboard vent(near windshield) soon the A/c is started and the same noise goes off in few second and returns REGULARLY at 2-3 mins interval. What can it be?

6) Any precautions, advise, tips for me as i am first time diesle car user.

To check your ABS go onto a wet road and stand on the brakes !!! You will feel the brake pedal go up and down under your foot ( I really Mean stand) !!!! Try and lock the wheels
The car will not have full power yet because its not really run in !

IN FACT I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AND RE RUN IN THE CAR
FOR 1000 KM DO NOT DRIVE OVER 3000 RPM !
Treat it like a NEW CAR

Check your tire pressures ! and look to see if the wheels have been balanced !! Look for little lead Clips on the Rim of each wheel

So they lied to you then !!!! This needs sorting out fast They are taking you for a ride .You can now knock the price down !RIGHT DOWN

ABS wasn't available until 2008 OCT!

I still cannot understand why ABS is not fitted on all the Logans ! My first Logan in 2006 had it and two airbags ! I just do not understand How you guys let them get away with it ! Here is a little story ! In Germany the Government bought out a new fuel with 10% methanol it cost the same as the regular fuel BUT they would not guarantee that it was OK to use and it was found to be agressive to aluminum parts (EATS IT) so we do not use this fuel and the Germans are now sitting on a Sea Of E10 thats the name of the fuel ! Answer to that question-
See the Regular logans cost around 7lakhs OTR Bangalore, but with the ABS it costs 8.2Lakhs OTR. And that much money is huge for anybody keeping in mind, India is a developing country.
