PostSubject: Engine shut down while driving   Fri May 13, 2011 2:59 pm

Hello everybody, I am new to this forum. I need your advice for my car trouble.

While driving back home yesterday afternoon, my Logan shut down on its own. I tried starting it a few times but after cranking, the engine did not start. Since it was cranking properly, so the battery is fine. Everything else was working properly and their was no error indication.

After this, I switched off the ignition and left it for about 5-10 minutes and I tried again and it started. Since then, its has been working as if nothing happened.

Quick fact- I started driving it again in May and entire April it spent parked in my garage.

I am clueless as to what could have been the problem and should I take it to the service center??

If its under warranty demand they check the readings from the OBC
If something has gone wrong it will be in the Computers memory

Its no more under warranty. But if the OBC would have detected anything then it would have given a fault indication on the display, which it did not.

On which display ? you can only read the OBC from another Computer or a OBC meter which you must plug into the plug at the back of the glove compartment .

Hi,
It may be the fuel pump. It could happen when the fuel pump motor is reaching the end of ts service life. On sustained driving on heating up sometime it simply lets go. On cooling down a little it may start working normally.
What you experinced would be a typical fuel delivery problem. Get the fuel pump serviced or checked
Happend with me on my accent.
Changed the motor in the pump only ; put in a bosch motor and bingo. Never trouble me again. Fortunately being an accent parts are easily available and the pump was a openable one.

Some pumps can be opened and only the motor can be replaced the rest can simply be cleaned and put back.

If u dont do anything proactive, as its driving normally now , you may get stranded on highway.
No point in a car which already has a part supply issue.
Let me know if it helps

regds.

It woulnt be a bad idea to have the idle speed actuator (inside the throttle body) checked if u are going to get it dignosed.
Its a known problem with logans in india.
At low speeds / on aidle the engine vibrates a bit and sometimes dies.
So it may start doing at all signals. At high speeds it behaves very normal.
It seems the logan electro compnents are not made for longevity.
On CNG retrofitted vehicles , i know a gent , who has to replace the whole throttle body assembly at every service ( 10000km) Cost of the whole assembly RS.5000/6500/-
rENAULT does not ship the ISA valve seperately as Hyundai/ suzuki does. So though the entire throttle body assembly is not exactly costly, it feels stupid to change the entire thing with the 2 sensors and stepper motor.
And thing is it can crash as early as 10000km.
Its like the gear lash noise in most logans.
starts very early.
