| I would like to get a feedback on GPS Navigators, if anybody has been using them. Cost? Accuracy ? Features etc.
I have been using the one on my Nokia Phone. Although it is good for cities, I found that it is not so reliable in the country side. Is it advisable to buy one from Adroad (US) ? Should one buy it even if India map is not installed ?

| Hai parag,
I am useing map my india s road pilot the base version of gps navigator the price is only Rs 8990/- My experience is good with the instrument and it is very much reliable. The warranty of the instrument is only 6 months . It is a touch screen device. Road pilot is just only navigation us by visual and speaker .If your buget is little bit high you will get more featurefull insurment like LX130, Lx 140 .These models have big screens and featues like blue tooth and fm radio. You can purchase good instruments from abroad and you can install map software from map my india. Before that pls contact map my india coustmer serivce and ask which instrument is competabale with their software. My experience with mapmy india is very good . Pls visit the web site www.mapmyindia.com

| parag,
I too have the map-my-india road pilot version that Thomas described. A base model, has the GPS with an audio function and that is what I was looking for. Paid 7990/-. Bought it about six-seven months back; and boy it is good. Have been driving around with it and it sure is handy. Drove through some maj cities on my trip from Hyderabad to Delhi and it took me straight thru' them like an arrow. Within Delhi as well, very accurate. One does not need to stop and ask for directions. Even along the country side, most roads are pretty well indicated.
Other models from the same firm are like - more the features - more the cost. Since I just needed the GPS, it works fine with me. Am given to believe that the firm has stopped marketing this model and is into selling the higher end models only now. May like to take a look at the web page.

| I use the the free Google Maps Navigation that came with my android phone and it is equally good. Driven all around south india. Hasn't gotten me lost yet. Only saved me a lot of trouble when knows roads were blocked or unusable. I don't think I will get standalone navigator anytime soon. | |

| sounds good guys... my nokia was very reliable with in Mumbai, havent used it in Pune.. However while returning from ganapatipule this time, it took me via Karad to Pune, but it took me 370 kms and almost got me lost on two occassions.
While heading towards ganapatipule, I followed the goole map printout and took the routre via Mahad ( about 300 kms ). The map was not so accurate... on ground the roads sometimes folow a different direction than the Nokia OVI map roads.

| I Use SYGIC Map My India App on my iPhone. Cost me $80 and Works as good as any GPS device available! With Turn By Turn Direction and Detailed All City India Maps... Moreover, love it cause i do not need another Device for the same and doesnt cost me much as well.. The Cons, it being a phone, whenever i get a call, i obviously have to answer it and so i loose the navigation at that moment, however it can be over ruled with the use of a Bluetooth device. Guess it is available for Major Symbian (Nokia), Android and Windows Mobile Devices as well.. Just to compare, this is Much much more advanced locally then the Google Maps!! | |

| saumil is right; these customised India maps are any day better that some of the internationally available ones. the one on my GPS device also is customised for every street and turning with advance intimation audio directions (which I guess is common on most platforms); with the option of six monthly updates as well. the road pilot gets fitted perfectly on the windscreen in a manner that one can keep an eye on it as one drives; plus no loss of connections when you receive any call!! | |

| Got a Samsung Galaxy Tab recently. The pack was bundled with LIFETIME FREE MAP MY INDIA. Contrary to my previous experience with MPI on Blaupunkt device, this has been working like a charm till now. | |
