| At 60,000kms, had the accessories belt replaced. The timing belt should be replaced at 80,000Kms. I have been told that people use it for 1,50,000Kms until one fine day it gives way and the result is catastrophic. | |

| @saumil - what was the odometer reading when you changed the timing belt. did you voluntarily changed it or the service center guys recommended/insisted on changing it? | |

| Surya, accessory belt cost:
Kit-Accessory Driv Rs.2921.59/- Accessory Belt R/P Rs.380/-
By the way, I think I saw your vehicle at Sireesh today. Is the number 2630?
Martin, is there any particular reason why the water pump too must be replaced at the time the timing belt is being replaced? Is it because it is easy to do so when they take off the timing belt?

| Thats right Rajesh When you take off all the parts to get to the Timing-belt you have access to the water pump and it is here in Europe a normal thing to change it as well along with the pulleys that work it and keep the timing belt tensioned It is quite normal for a Water pump to start leaking around 80000 km and you can see this if you start to lose water (not lots ) and also you will see a white powdery deposit in the near from the belt housing So remember this If your Water Pump goes after you have the New belt fitted you will pay the same price as you did to have the Belt fitted ...................it make sense http://www.toyotatips.com/replace-the-water-pump-when-replacing-the-timing-belt.t852-4.html | |

| Attached is the Bill for my 45000 Kms service, was about 27000 which i got reduced to 18570 after taking up a lot of matters with Mahindra. This includes replacement of my rear Bumper which like i had posted earlier had a Hole in it and was unrepairable. Also changed the weather strips and the Glass runners for all 4 windows. | |

| Dude, i actually got an aftermarket Power Windows installed and the runners did tend to get a dirty a lot with all the Dust around here.. Also, the service guys from the PW company kept removing the runners and washing it probably made it worse.. so had to replace them.. For the Cost, there was a lot of inefficiency at the workshop and i kept complaining time and again, last was when my door was to be replaced, they actually took my car thrice and didnt get it changed for some or the other reason, twice, the car was there for about a week.. After loosing my cool, I actually wrote to Anand Mahindra on Twitter and that made his executives fall to my feet | |

| Hello Folks, I just got my logan serviced at 63,000 kms. Now, the Service center guys have been asking me repeatedly to get the timing belt setup changed since it has crossed 60,000 kms. The Service manual says the same thing. The estimate quoted is 12,000-15,000 rs. Suggestions please!!!

| Adam,
I got my timing belt changed last month @ 74000km. Belt costed about Rs.3900'ish if I recollect properly.
The estimate quoted to you is for timing belt or the entire service? My entire service cost was about 13k. The highest so far, but acceptable considering the work that went in.

| vsuprak,
Brother, The advisor listed 4 items, Timing belt, Ac belt and a couple more belts and quoted 7500 rs. But then if you add the 10 types of taxes and labour charge, i would assume it would come near 12,000 rs. Though i own 4 cars, i love my logan a little too much to take the risk!!!!

| My car is reaching 39k, and is over 5 years old now, as my Km is less, when should i go for changing the timing belt and water pump. Till the last service they have not changed anything, just the usual stuff. Planning to go for a service next month. Is there any time interval for change of timing belt and water pump. Saumil what would you suggest, till now i have not faced any issues with the car and it has been a dream run. | |

| Driving a 1.4 GLX for the past 5 years. Recently the car engine stalled on the running ( ~ 40Kmph) and died down. Tried a couple of times to revive the engine but could not. Got in touch with Mahindra ASS and towed the car to Sterling motors, gurgaon. I have been told that the timing belt snapped and that led to some engine damage, mainly bent valves. The total cost of rebuilding the engine in the tune of 30K-40K ( awaiting the final bill) approx, can anyone suggest having gone through the same problems. | |

| Got my car back, the bill was around 33k( INR), but I managed to get it approved for the checkup camp and brought it around 30K (held at this time by Mahindra... i write managed, as the ASS denied this initially, only after the intervention of the Mahindra guys, it passed). Also one of the rubber seals was leaking and that too was replaced, which costed ~ 6 K , or else I would have managed under 25k. Martin, in regards to why it was not replaced earlier my understanding was it lasts longer than 60K kms, some say about 80K kms, so was about to take it when the incident happened. I still feel that 60K limit is too less, and having checked the worn out belt myself, I think it should have been of a higher rated capacity ( more steel fibers meshing) considering that its a interfering engine and a failure causes considerable damage. Let me know ur views. | |
