Guys.. the Toyota Etios seems like quite a package... it can certainly take on the Dzire.
At 5.5 lacs it's the same bracket. The boot space is bigger than the Logan, interior also seems quite spacious.
From what I've read so far, they've looked at the competition closely, and that includes the Logan... well ! they do consider the Logan worth competing against.

Smile You have opened what I have been thinking..
Defnitely Etios will take head on with petrol versions of Logan, Dzire and Manza

Since Etios diesel is yet to come all these companies can relax in Diesel segment..

Can trust Toyota reliability. But need to really wait and watch if Etios will be reliable as other toyota cars(fuel, shut it off and forget it!)

I had owned a Camry in US (XLE, V6 , 3.0 L engine...with 1.25 lakh miles on the odo)..even after 1.25 lakh miles, it was very smooth and not even once it had any repair of any sort or any minor niggles for the period I owned(Just regular servicing was done)...Such excellent reliability and build quality..

And Surya you will be knowing this better Smile

Toyota pricing for Etios is very competitive..

But in India I feel both Honda and Toyota are way over priced(Other than Etios, Innova) and I really hate this.. affraid

While Civic and Corolla form the entry segment in US with reasonable pricing, same in India is treated as higher segments with mad pricing Mad

I dont know what they think of us..

yup.. pricing in India is an issue ... same goes for the Duster too .. although it looks like a winner, the pricing in India may put this product out of reach for a few.

The the auto segment here is gearing up for some stiff competition.
The Mahindra Global SUV (or the scorpio upgrade), New TATA Safari (they are taking in inputs from JLR ) ... and there are other products lined up too .. not least of all, the modified Logan.. but I am happy to have bought the Renault one.

@ MyCoolLogan, Parag, yes since the Toyota diesel is atleast a couple of years away, Logan and Dzire dont need to worry cause the maximum cars Both sell are Diesels!

@ Parag, the Mahindra Global SUV isnt a Scorpio update, its a New car which will co exist.

Yup.. the Global SUv is a different vehicle... but the service center GM told me that they are going to discontinue the scorpio... seems a bit unlikey though

Really a killer price !!
Massive Boot space of 595 liters..not sure of the leg room though
Etios is slightly longer than Logan, but less in width and a reduction in whole 100+ kgs

The competition has become very tough for Dzire, Manza and Logan

@MyCoolLogan: Dont get me wrong as i am also a Logan owner and a fan, but Logan was never into the competition. It is long out except for the fact that so far it was one of the rare sedans at this price.

But now with a little extra one gets Toyota which is an excellent value for money. 1695 mm width may be a bit less but then again as i see width is not the only factor exciting enough when a bigger fact exists that Logan could be a discontinued model and that it has unconventional looks.

ETIOS is definitely attractive and scores on all grounds including the pricing. Dzire being Maruti will keep having its share of customers and there are loads of them.

In my view it is ETIOS who should be reigning. But then can not predict Indian market space. There are people who may not prefer just because the console (tachometers) is in center.

As far as reliability goes ETIOS is not a new model that Toyota had designed for India. It is already being sold since long across globe and is a well tried and tested model.

Somewhat true Mir...
But Logan diesel I guess will still hold on for sometime...Before being modified very heavily to give a modern look or phased out..

But I strongly feel Etios has derived it inspiration of boot shape from Logan.. Very Happy

I have felt Logan boot shape was looking good and far better than Dzire and to some extent Manza....

No only ETIOS but even MANZA is nothing but inspiration from Logan. it is only after Logan that Tata thought of that big boot and that huge sedan body.

Definitely Logan boot looks far better still being the most huge.
