| I have been facing rear suspension noise problem for some time now. The car went into waterlogged roads. The water level was below the door level though. A few days after that, the rear suspension started making a frictional noise on normal speedbreakers.
Took the vehicle to the service center. After a whole days work, the noise was still as loud. Although the service personnel said the vehicle was ready. One more days work and again the result was the same. It again failed the test drive. Don't these guys test drive the vehicle properly.
Anyways, a further 20 mins and the vehicle was again ready for delivery. This time it passed the test drive. It seems the washing after the repairs had washed away all the grease.
Now after a few days, the noise has resurfaced again .... guys.. anaybody has any idea what the problem is ?
Stu.. the forum still live anf kickin

| I have the same problem for the last one yr or so. The rear left suspension makes a "thud" noise on high bumps and rough roads. The service center said that its from the damaged shocker and will cost around Rs 1500, but its not urgently required to be replaced. So I have kept it as it is till date. | |

| thanks nayandeep, but it's not a' thud' like noise on my vehicle. It's more like 'khas khas' noise, and pretty loud too. | |

| Stuart, no there is no bounce on the boot. The problem however has been identified on the next visit.
The mechanical Load sensing device, at the center of the rear suspension is making the noise. They raised the vehicle on jack and pressed the lever on this device with hand. It proudced the same noise. I am nor sure what it's called. But this Load Sensing Device , that aides in break force distribution needs replacement.
The spare would however come in after four days. So another visit to the service center is scheduled.

| Lot of oiling and greasing was done...but the noise resurfaced again. I just got a call from Mahindra... it seems no Logan before has required this part replacement, so they'll need 4 days to get the part. | |

| pleasure .... hope it helps others. But am also a bit surprised... even the service engineers have not encountered some of these problems before. Although I take the vehicle out on long drives... mostly 250- 400 kms range, i do drive carefully, and dont push it too hard. | |

| thanks...as i mentioned before, we applied grease, but the noise came back again... so they are replacing the sensor... although it did look like a part that would need lubrication at times. | |

| I am experiencing some noise as if two metals striking each other, from underneath the front left suspension whenever going over rough roads. The service center told me there is oil leak from the suspension and also the bush needs to replaced but there is no risk in keeping them as they are. Then I took it for inspection to a local mechanic and said I need to do the following: Suspension overhauling (2PCS low arm), STB LINK & BUSH, STRUT KIT & MOUNTING change which will cost me around Rs 9000 including labor charges. He also recommended Steering Overhauling which will cost Rs 2500. Need your views on these. | |

| Why Steering overhauling ? What I think it is is the top of the struts it happens a lot on Renault especially Twingo depending on the age of the Struts and IF you can see oil running down them change the struts they are not dear 9000 sounds good to me but the overhaul for the steering ? What are they going to do ? change the oil maybe but why it has its service schedule This is the top of the strut you can see it under the bonnet with a bolt in the middle (or something like it ) | |

| Thanks Stu, yes I asked them the reason for steering overhauling, but they could not give me any proper reason other than some noise issue. So I will not do the steering overhaul. And regarding the struts, the service advisor showed me there is a gap in the middle of the joints and that is causing the noise. He also showed me some black bush which were kind of seemed a bit loose. But my concern is that can the suspension be so damaged that the car can break down on it? The guy was constantly stressing on this. | |

| Well it wont break down but it will get worse just find yourself some struts and bushes and let some one fit them when you have time and money | |
