PostSubject: Front Fender damaged   Mon Oct 18, 2010 6:31 pm

Hi Folks,

I had an unfortunate mishap last night. A bus rubbed past the left side front fender of my Logan. The impact has damaged the fron fender, with the portion above the wheel flattened. I am talking about the bulging part of the fender which is just above the wheel. A pretty hard scracth on the door running upto actually the bumper. i can live with the scratch on the door but not the flattened fender.

Does anybody know of a goo body repair shop in Bangalore who can actually set tis right. I will try to post pics as soon as I can. My camera has crashed as well. Do you suggest I go to the authorised mahindra workshop itself and see what they can do?

Vsuprak - any experiences like this with Sireesh Auto jakkur - pls let me know. I get my car done there usually.

@ Dhanushan,

Please contact Ramesh at Sireesh Service Center Jakkur
His no. is 9972049432

He is quite supportive in these matters. Take his opinion and I am sure he would be able to guide you whether to get it done at the authorised service center or outside.

The cost will be a lot lower if done outside - please find a local guy for tinkering/painting jobs.

I live on the other side of town so no clue about your local options.

This can be done at Sireesh, Jakkur by claiming insurance. They will most likely replace the fender.
If you don't want to claim insurance then try 'Fast Cars' on Bannerghatta Road. They have the equipment. I have heard the quality of work is pretty good. Cost will definitely be lower when compared to an authorised service center.

PostSubject: Re: Front Fender damaged   Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:07 am

Folks, I checked it out at Sireesh Auto. The rough estimate they gave me was 16,000 if I calim insurance. They would also try to replace my bumper. Estimated out of pocket estimate about 4000 (50% of bumper plus deductibles etc).

If I do it at my own cost, he says it would cost 11,000 without the bumper replacement.

His approx costs are:
fender - 2300
painting fender - 4000
Door tinkering and painting 4000
bumper touch up paint (if im paying myself) - 2000

if insurance it is another 6000 more for new bumper and painting. I will check with fast cars this weekend and decide.

Does anybody have an idea on hw this will affect my next years premium. Apart from not getting the NCB, some people say that a claim would increase my premiuim by alleast a 1000 Rs. PLease advice on this works.....

@Dhanushan

When my car had an accident last year, it made no difference to the valuation of the car. The only thing I lost on, was the NCB (no claim bonus) while renewing the insureance for next year.

I got this done at Sireesh Auto Jakkur. I negotiated a deal with the guy who does accident repair. He agreed to repair the fender and has done a neat job. He also did spot painting (thats what they call part painting) on the door and the bumper. He billed 5691 and I had to give him a gift of 1000...(for the boys who actually tapped the fender back to shape) Worked well for me as I decided not to claim insurance...

I also checked at Fast CArs. They werent very ready to take up Logan as they had a problem with the parts supply. He also quoted 6500 if it had to be repaired and painted.

Can you post some pics of the denting job?
Seems I can make use of it for theminor upsets here and there on my car body as well.
