| Just now I have faced an strange situtation where, while switch on mode my High Temp warning light kept on and engine refused to start after several tries.
I drove my car in the morning only for a kilometer only and for last 3 hours it was switched off but when I tried to start now it just refused.
I checked the manual and it says - coolent temprature may be high wait for few mins and then try. and Bingo after 15 mins it started as normally it would.
But I could not figureout what went wrong, how come temp warning light indicated high temp when car was stalled for last 3 hours. Any ideas guys?

| @ Ezee While the issue got sorted out, it can be frightening on 1st occurance.
Could it have anything to do with the ambient temperature and pressure build-up (just speculating)?
My car is parked all day long by the side of the road. In the evening, if it refused to start, I wouldn't mind waiting a few minutes. But practically I would panic as to what happened to the car !!
Please let us know what your service technician/advisor has to say about this.

| No its not related to ambient temprature, as technology is already there to protect from extreme heat or cold.
Still didnt get a chance to visit service center

| Hey Ezee, My car which is a DLS as well has the same problem, I need to turn the ignition key at least 2 or 3 times and then it starts. I had taken it to the service center, they said that you might just need to change the Air filter, Diesel filter and it should solve the problem. But now I am still facing this problem.
Can any one tell me whats wrong?

| Check fluid levels. If all fine, then probably a sensor issue. If not that then, replacement time. | |

| Could be the sensor, glow plug too but that is a long call. Ideally resetting the ECU should do the trick. I was not talking about replacing the car! :0 | |

| Hey Guys... Something really surprising...
It’s been 4 days now and the car has always started on the first attempt, And I have done nothing at all apart from the earlier regular service. I guess may be Martin was right about the weather. Its wormer than it was about a week ago, here in Mumbai.

| Dear All, I had also faced this problem a lot in month of april & may this year specially in the afternoons. I tried a lot of things. First I found the radiator fan connection wire is broken, I joined it in proper way. Everything normal . After few days, on highway same tempurature indicator light on.Radiator fan was off this time. I took the car on side & turn it off. After 1 min I started the car & turn on the A/c. This time fan started with normal speed & after few seconds started to revolve on full speed which was not happening earlier. After that till 75 km I didn't faced this problem. But again started coming now then within 10 kms drive also. Hence last week I went to service centre guys to find out what problem is. He kept my car on for idle nearly 35 min. & he found the fan started 4 times. He said no problem, But i insisted to check with OBD & Laptop.. SO he checked & found hardware problem near EGR valve where one wire is short out of six sockets. Then he flashed the ECU & changed fuel filter. After that I started the car & went home. From that day its raining a lot here & the symbol appeared only once when I was in very heavy traffic. & car is also running very smooth than earlier. By the way , service person told me you need to change the engine wiring harness. Now this is what I want to know from experts. as my car wiring has 3-4 joints at many important places. What may be the problem? Does EGR connection can make difference in keeping the coolant at normal temp . I know the EGR helps to cool down the engine temp itself. So how it happening. Also One more question. Is turbo & EGR are totally different operations or different parts in same line. Cause my turbo is working very fine. Kicks at around 1200 RPM & good pick up. Please help. | Hi Vabs,
For your reference, please go through this link on EGR http://autorepair.about.com/od/glossary/gr/def_egr-valve.htm
The link with turbocharger is this: Your turbocharger runs on the exhaust gases that come out from your engine. Essentially, this is the same gas which is sent back inside again by the EGr for efficient combustion.
Read more about Turbochargers at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbocharger

| If the car is working ok you do not need to change the wiring and if it wasnt working ok you wouldn't either if a plug was faulty and they fixed it thats OK ! Get yourself a cheap ODB connecter you can run it using a Mobile Phone App !I have one and If anything is going wrong just plug it in read out the problem number check it on the INTERNET and take it to the garage and say !!! THIS IS BROKEN ! and NO you dont need to change my engine wiring harness.
the fan starts and stops itself when needed (good that you found the broken wire ) and even comes on after the drive if the engine is Hot (even when turned off) the EGR just takes readings of the fuel emission http://autorepair.about.com/od/glossary/gr/def_egr-valve.htm dont worry if its running ok the main thing is OIL WATER and Battery and Service
