| My car's headlamps (high & low beam - both sides) won't switch on The wiring is stock and the bulbs must be ok - It seems that some fuse or relay in the headlight circuit has gone bad - I'm 300Km from the nearest dealer and was hoping to get some help on what to look for. Any idea about what the problem could be ? (both the headlights failed together) Currently using the car with fog lights only. | |

| Yep, in all likelihood, it is the fuse. There spare ones in the fuse box; try them out or similar ones from any other circuit not as critical , should meet the immediate requirement. | |

| IMO , the left and right headlamp have two separate fuses - so both shouldn't have failed due to one fuse - also - I checked and didn't find a blown fuse | |

| My RH low beam conked out yesterday while the Hi Beam was still fine. After coming home, I referred to the service manual and changed the bulb myself. Took me about 15 minutes to finish the job | |

| Cool, They are a little hard to get to though.
In my case it was simply a case of bad contacts. The service center had "upgraded" the bulbs to 100/90W ones and the stock holders had melted slightly. Surprising how both went off in tandem. I replaced them with the stock wattage (60/55W ones) and they are working fine.

| Yea, i agree with dtandon, they are a little difficult to get out.. i tried when mine went off but then left it to the experts I was about to upgrade to the 100/90 ones but was advised against them by a couple of guys stating the same wire/socket melting problem. What was suggested was to install a relay which obviously involved tinkering with the stock wires so i kept away!! | |

This will be helpful to all of us mostly importantly when stranded in highway without any help. What basic tools we need to have to change headlights?

| Allright. Let me get some snaps of the same. I am sure it will be helpful.
Another thing I realised when I did this DIY --> It is always good to have a small handy mirror and a torch in the car which can help you see places where you need to put your hand into.
I required one for changing the bulb. The locking clip was in such a construction, there was no way I could have removed it without understanding its shape and position.

| No way are todays lights made to go off together ! Where did you get that bit of Misinformation ? that is a accident waiting to happen this is why each light has a fuse to blow one and not both and leave you blind
They are easy to change remove the big black rubber cup at the back and pinch the two handles at the back of the bulb and drop it down now remove the old bulb and replace with a new one BUT DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS as it can explode because of grease of fat from your fingers
Both light go off at once OH Shit I have heard it all now Happy days

| Exactly the same problem I faced when I decided to replace the bulb myself. The owners manual isn't clear about how to dislodge the clip. I went to the service center(Sireesh) and they showed me a spare headlamp and how the clip latches in to the bulb. I then replaced the bulb myself and dind't allow the technician there to do so. I did that so as to have practical experience in case I had to replace it on a highway somewhere. | |

| I needed to change the RH headlight yesterday as it got broken. The bulbs inside were all ok. But the service center guys replaced a new headlight along with new bulbs. Does the new headlight comes with the bulbs. Can't I just buy the headlight without the new bulbs. | |

| There was no separate charge for the bulbs in the bill. The entire headlight cost around Rs 3500 | |

It comes as a full set with the bulbs. Same thing happened to me. I saved the old bulbs from the broken lamp for emergencies.
