| HI, I have a 2008 1.5 DCI Logan..since the cd player that came with it is just an audio cd player, I have been using an fm transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket to play mp3s from my USB, for over an year. A few weeks back the car started showing starting troubles, and on checking, the worskshop man told the cars battery is weak and it needs to be replaced..i bought a new exide battery for 7k... Now i have stopped using the fm transmitter... Is it bcuz of the transmitter that the battery failed...or is it the usual life time of a battery...i have clocked over 36000km so far.. I would like to use a bluetooth adapter form the cig lighter socket..can i do that without inviting a battery failure again? | |

| Any idea as to how long the battery si supposed to last....i don't think 2 years is such a long time for the battery to become weak.....i have been using the fog lamps regularly...may b thats also one of the reasons...rt nw am little wary of plugging anything into the socket.............. | |

| The OEM battery is Exide and their quality is always suspect. I have seen lots of exide's die early (early means less than three years).
Don't worry about your FM transmitter - its power consumption is very low (negligible) - a single headlamp uses ten times more electricity.
Several of us run large stereo's on cars without any negative effect on the cars battery.

| My Logan is now 2.5 yrs old. Done 35000+ kms. Battery still seems to be going strong. On the other hand, my other car "M800" 1997 model had its first battery change in 2005. I had then changed to Amaron, which is still doing service. | |

| did you leave the car with headlamps or any other gadget ON with engine OFF... or did the engine cooling fan run for more than the normal time with engine off... in logan this fan does run after switching off the engine. normally it is programmed to stop after a while but then it is a program.
in all other cases whatever gadgets are installed on car and are used when car engine is charging battery will not make any difference on the battery life. the only thing is battery must get charged properly at the required voltage probably from the car alternator.

| No Mir, i'm positive that i've never left the head lights on. the only thing i've done is to use the fm transmitter while the car was off, but that was only a couple of times and that too only maximum 10 min. And as for the engine fan, i haven't noticed any such thing so far, but will keep an eye out for it. Thanks. Don't know if something is wrong with the alternator.

| Alrite Guys, My Battery finally Died! 3 years and 3 Months down, it did decent i guess! The confusion now was which one to go for! Amaron - Had heard a lot about their Batteries. On my inquiry, came to know that they have just one battery that fits the Logan! Its a 60 Ampere battery and the Warranty is 2+2 years (First 2 years Replacement warranty and the Next 2, you get discounts on the new battery if u need to go for 1. It ranges from sumwer abt 47% and goes down to sum 13-15% as the months go by) 60 Ampere Warranty, 2+2 years Price - Rs. 8650 Exide - Exide, again had just 1 battery for the Logan. 65 Ampere here! Warranty, 2.5(30 Months)+2.5 years. Price - ~Rs. 8600 Standard Furukawa (SF) - Same as the Exide 1, 65 Ampere. Warranty, 2.5+2.5 years. Price - ~Rs. 8500 All the Batteries above are Maintainance free. Now, i had a friend who worked with Exide earlier and Tata Green (Shit stuff) later. Spoke to Him at length. He told me that SF, Now owned by Exide are the Most Technologically superior Thanks to the Japanese Technology (Furukawa) batteries. Highly recommended me to go for the same! I still wasnt very convinced so on furhter prodding on to why Not Amaron or Exide, he said that I could go for the Exide if i was more concerned about the Brand as such but, he personally get SF for his cars and has never had any problem till date! The Warranty here was also better than the Amaron! Quite convincing that was. Decided to go for an Standard Furukawa Battery. Thanks to him, i got a goood Discount as well. Got the Standard Furukawa Super Sonic battery for Rs. 7000 Some Pictures below Just another thing, i found out the Logans Battery to be a little on the costlier side. A Friend installed An Amaron battery for his Scorpio for about Rs. 4000! The Exide guy was telling me that cause of the European Engine and stuff! Not quite convinced! Also, Funnily enough, when i spoke to a Mahindra Service Center (Ambition Auto), they Quoted me Rs. 8500 for an Exide Battery with surprisingly just a 1 year Company warranty!!!! | |

| Saumil,
The cost of the battery will not be a pain considering the length of time for which you will keep the car. Even I know SF's to be trouble free and having good service life.
What is your present odo reading btw?

| The is regarding to the price of battery .I had visited the tata green web site they are telling that for logan car the price is around 5596 with 60 months warranty .If you wnat 12 month warranty the price is only 4351. So if any one is going to change the battery please go through the site also . The price which is charged by other companies is very high.It is only an infromation .Tata green battery is good according to electricians . So why we should spend around 2000 more for a battery . | |

| A couple of days ago my Logan would not start. As it had the original Exide factory fitted battery which is now 3.5 years old I immediately suspected the battery.
When I went to the battery shop to check out the battery, they topped up the water and told me the battery was fine. But still the battery wouldn't charge and would show a constant 11Volts even with the engine revved up.
With some difficulty I managed to get the vehicle to the Mahindra workshop. There the opened up the alternator and found that the the alternator pulley had worn out and though the pulley was spinning the alternator inside was not being rotated. Also the alternator belt had a crack in it.
Thankful to report: Alternator Pulley (value Rs.5500/-) replaced under Extended Warranty. Had to pay for a new belt though (Rs650/-)
Was advised to change battery soon as the time elapsed is over 3.5 years. Workshop quote for new Exide battery is Rs.9700/- .... will see when the time comes.. maybe will go for SF like Saumil has ... btw Saumil how is the new battery performing?

| hi guys my dle logan which is now 3 year and 2 months old was going good till yesterday but when i tried to change the blower position by the knob in control panel it got stuck and then moved freely and position of the blower was not changing i called up the service center guy of mahindra he told me that it cant be repaired and whole control panel would be changed which will cost me about 8000 or even more i was shocked.
i decided to take a look myself and when i opened the control panels face(in which stereo and all knobs are fitted) which has some 6 locks and no screws i saw that the metal wire which gets pushed and pulled by the knob was free sort of i took out 2 screws of the panel and it was in my hand had to remove 2 sockets one of hazard light switch and one of the control panel i then adjusted the wire in its lock and it started working again only thing was my switch was not rotating properly its getting stuck somewhere
i saw some locks to open it and i was confident i could repair it myself but as i just conformed its cost and my problem was almost sorted i did not took the risk and closed everything and now my knob is working but not fully i mean when i put it on air to face condition i can still feel some air flowing on my feet but its working not stuck with air on windows only like it was before when got free.
guys i know this thread is about battery so dont curse me i was just coming on to battery in all this i was using blower again and again for about 1 hour during whole process and after that when i tried to start my car it did not started i opened the bonnet and when checked the battery in its checking glass i was able to see red color
i was sure its dead and needs replacement one of my neighbour suggested i should get it charged once but as i did not wanted to take any risks and i knew a diesel car battery hardly lasts more then 3 years with all equipment like amplifier fog lamps etc. i decided to change the battery
today i jump started my logan with my alto and went to the local market and i was realy confused to see so many brands i was getting a local battery for 2100 only in replacement of my old battery with 1 year guarantee and a exide for 3000 and another exide for 3500 amaron for 3500 but when i conformed the price of the battery which i got with my car it was 6500 of exide for din 60 amp. battery 5 years guarantee it was maintenance free amaron battery of same was not available i conformed i was having a din battery in my car and all others will have to be fitted with some jugad(adjustment) which i did not wanted at all.
so i had 2 options exide din for 6500 or sf din for 6000 both are manufactured by exide but i wanted to go for amaron as i have heard alot about its quality so i enquired about its din batterries i was told amaron pro din 66 amp will cost me about 6000 and amaron go din for 4700, the difference was of guarantee amaron pro had a guarantee of 5 years 2.5 of replacement and 2.5 for discount and amaron go 1.5+1.5 also amaron go was not maintenance free but as amaron pro was not available and also amaron go was lil lighter on budget i selected amaron go dont know how much it will last it costed me 4700 with replacement of my old battery
has anyone else used amaron batteries in logan diesel if yes please can u share your experience, rate, model and amp. of the battery...
