| Generally, it is said that it is a good practice to rotate tires between front and rear and also inside edge out after about 12-15k kms. This is to avoid uneven wear and tear. Has anyone done this in the Logan. The service centers are not doing this - I checked with them. Has anyone tried this on the Logan? Would you suggest that I do this. | |

| Dhanushan, when i went for my 3rd and final service i had done around 9000 kms on my car, and the service center people did do the rotation of tyres ,wheel alignment and balancing , they said that tyre rotation should happen after every 10,000 kms .
Please get the rotation done on your next service if not done already

| Sure will get that done.. The last time I checked with the mechanic on phone, he didnt seem to be aware of it. Will tell them this time.. Saumil, not sure about Delhi but Sireesh Bangalore is good at this. They usually dont charge anything apart from the prescribed charges for the free service. I had a minor accident and 2 of my reverse sensors ahd fallen into the bumper. I had ot them installed earlier through an outside shop. My service folks, very kindly removed the entire bumper and refixed the sensors and surprisingly did not charge me for it. I havent even paid for the pickup and drop service. I stay about 35 kms from their service station. | |

| What should be the correct tyre rotation for the factory-fitted JK Tyres ... including rotating the spare. I have just crossed 12000km and think a rotation is necessary. | |

| Well.. I do know why we "generally" have to rotate wheels. Even in that article, he says refer to your service manual for the exact details. And the logan manual says not to do it at all.
My car is going in for second service today and I am going to rotate it anyway.. but why does the manual say we shouldn't?

| i heard that TATA have a manufacturing defect so the left hand tyres get eroded more fast than the right hand tyres, so if logan has such manufacturing defects, then it is better to change tyres............... but again some of drivers in my area says, since the front tyres take a heavier load of the engine than the rear ones, so changing front tyres with rear ones(in a alternative way) is better, but ask whether this will break the warranty........ | |

| Well... car has gone in for second service. Asked service advisor about rotation. He said they have specific instructions from Renault to not do this at all. He also said, they won't do it even if I request them to do it. I can do it myself if I want to. This is from India Garage in Chennai. Why why why? | |

| Here is something to think about (from yahoo answers, sorry not able to find renault specific links about this):
Why doesn't BMW recommend tire rotation?
BMW's stance is this, depending on individual operating conditions, different wear patterns appear on the front and rear axles. So for safety and handling reasons, BMW does not recommend to rotate the tires.
The possible benefit of slightly improved tire wear will be negatively offset by reduced traction while the tire "wears-in" in its new location.

| Here is another answer.. "No real reason was given. I rotate most BMW models all the time with NO side effects. I think BMW wants to sell more tires if they can. People tend to listen to the BMW dealership as if they don't do as recommended their car will blow up. AND BMW LOVES THAT!!!! Suckers are born ever min.." | |

| Most of the time, Rotation is recommended only if you find unever wear of tyres. I myself havent rotated the tyres so far, coz i find the wear to be even across all tyres. Have a M800 also for last 10 yrs. Never did rotation there too, even when wear was uneven across tyres. | |

| Hi Folks, Ive done about 37,000 kms on my DLX. I feel that the tyres could do about 3000 more. The front left tyre looks a little more worn than the right (marginally). The rear set seems to be a little better than the ones on the front. I rotated the wheels once when I was at 18000 kms. Is this the normal wear for the tyres - 40,000 kms. Anybody who has done 40k or more please let me know your experience. | |

| Courtesy of Buzzle .com Why Should You Rotate Your Car Tires? Before we know about how often should you rotate your tires, let us know why you should rotate your tires. Each tire of your car wears differently due to difference in the load carried by each and the difference in road conditions faced by each of them. Sixty percent of the car’s weight is carried by front tires, so they'll wear more and quicker than the rear ones. If your auto is front-wheel drive, the front tires will wear more than the rear ones. In case of rear-wheel drive the rear tire will wear more. If you are driving more on the highways, it means lot of cloverleafs, leading to high speed right-hand turns. While driving more on street, you might take high speed left hand turns whereas right hand turns are tighter. So, where you drive will also decide which tire wears more. To make those tires last longer, which are subject to more wear and tear, they need to be switched with those which wear less, comparatively. Rotating your tires will ensure that all the tires wear at the same rate, so that you don’t need to replace the tires that are completely out of synchronization. Now, let us check how often should you rotate your tires.
How Often Should You Rotate Your Car Tires? To know how often should you rotate your tires, it is best to check your vehicle manufacture's recommendation in the owner's manual. You can also contact your car maintenance professional to know exactly how often should you rotate your tire and avoid further car problems. You can also know the right tire rotation pattern for your car. You can rotate tires according to the appropriate time intervals mentioned in the owner's manual. Even if your tires do not show wear, they must be rotated as mentioned in the manual. If it is not mentioned in the manual as to how often should you rotate your tires, the usual practice is to rotate them between 6000 miles to 10000 miles.
Once you know how often should you rotate your tires, you can take your car to a tire professional or do it yourself, if you know how to rotate tires. This is a good time to get your tires inspected as well. You can check for any unusual wear, tire tread damage, sidewall damage and such problems in the tires. Sharp ridges on one of your tires might be formed as a result of misalignment. In this case, you should get the wheel alignment checked and corrected in order to prevent additional tire wear. Know more on car repairs.
When You Need to Replace a Tire? A tire is needed to be replaced when the tread over it has worn out. This can be identified with help of the tread wear indicator. The tread wear indicator is a small raised bar that runs across the grooves of the tire tread. This raised bar marks the minimum allowable tread depth. These are spaced evenly around the entire tire. You must replace the tires when they are close to the minimum tread depth. More on how to change a tire.

| My car has done close to 50000Kms and the folks at the service center think the OEM tyres will last 60000Kms and more. Yes, the tyres at the front will wear out a bit faster than the rear. Two reasons:
1) Constant weight of the engine. 2) Steering
Rotate the tyres about every 20000kms or so. Also a good time to rotate the tyres would be at the time of wheel balancing.
