Mmmm we also have a way it is to put in a net one of those stinky stones that we hang in the urinals .It is supposed to work

Hey I, like many others, feel the Logan ORVMs as boring and dull. Also they don't fold properly. But today I have got one live example of how tough these mirrors and how sceintifically well these have been designed, which have made mee feel proud of them. Today I was driving at around 50 kmph, when one Hyundai Verna came from opposite direction at almost the same speed. There was very little space between the two cars and the two car's ORVMs collided with each other. And to my amazement I found the Verna's orvm got detached from the body and fell off instanly on the road. But believe it or not there isn't a single scratch on our Logan's mirror. The mirror remained firmly without bendind a bit. I was so suprised that I literally got down the car and tried hard to find any scratch/dent. Logan rules... man.....Three cheers to it.

But you know wat, when i had gone for a drive with the service manager after service, we were talking just generally about the Logan when he told me that these mirrors arent supposed to fold!!
They have just been modified a little and added here where people very often fold their mirrors!

The week after I bought the Logan one afte sales superviser from Mahindra Renault came to my house to have my feedback. When I told him about the ORVMS being a bit fold resistant, he explained me that it was done in a way so that, during any blow from front or rear, the mirror will bend away and again return to its original position. The mirror joint is made such a way to absorb the impact. I didn't believe him much, until today's experience.

I too had an experience with the mirror, hit by a TATA Indica but it snapped back into position.

MIrrors are awesome in design. Will just snap back in position. Had lots of brushes in city and am glad its still intact.
Also, the mirror is actually quite inside the housing making the glass more secure, as compared to other cars.

However, their view range is small. Hope something can be done about it.
I thought of putting in the magic mirror button but that occupies almost ¼ the mirror space

Last Sunday had a major hit on the right OVRM by a passing Hyundai Getz. The glass fell off and I reversed my car to pick it up. Took it and clipped it back into position. I felt happy thinking that probably no car in India has an OVRM that could have taken that kind of hit and survived. This is really good.

Rajesh, U should tell us what happened to the Hyundai Getz mirrors.

Nayan, I just saw him drive away. Not sure what happened because the mirror was picked up by a passerby and he handed it to me. I didn't reverse all the way to the spot.

It should have felt the sting from our Logan. Anyways I will visit a new accessories shop that has opened here to find out if I can fit some electrically controlled orvms. Will let u know guys

I have very bad experience with the side mirrors of Logan.

Within one year my both mirror were broken from the neck, cast iron rod were broken by simply closing and opening of mirror.

What your experience with the side mirrors

Actually posted earlier also, there are two ways of taking this. An insider told me that the mirrors are made for european nations where folding the ORVM isnt an aspect. The other side of users here say it is super strong and doesnt break on mishaps! So its ur call!!
Personally, i avoid folding it!

i too avoid folding it and have found them very sturdy and yet pliable enough to not break at the slightest contact which is buond to happen once a while on Indian roads

I used to fold it earlier ...... an old habit from my earlier cars days....

The ones on the Logan are indeed hard and more difficult to fold, one would always be circumspect.... However, ever since I read in this Forum as brought out by sAu and Lo_lover, have stopped folding. It feels so much better.

Even I have experienced the side view mirrors being hit by a motorcyclist overtaking from the wrong side.... and they just snapped back into position.... great!

Yeah, they are strong and sturdy, i have hit and been hit by motorcycles, Lancers, Wagon Rs, swifts, they are still there and not a scratch on my mirrors, btw i dont fold them.

In my logan's right ORVM spring got broken while some biker hit it and is still inside mirror console. Service centre person knows only replacing it. Hence, I put some araldite/anabond combination and made it stiff to stand and left the hope of folding it in future.

I think its better to not fold the mirrors.

I made Left side closed and right side always open.

Additional wiring is not a concern.
Many OE Genuine accessories also need to be wired that way.

But given the size of the Original Logan Mirrors, I think MR should launch the "ORVM w/ Side Turn Indicators" as a genuine accessory. Ofcourse with a snazzy design that gels with the overall appearance of the car.

I had a chat with the service centre guy regarding the mirror. I also got the same response that they are to be left open. So, I also keep them open. But as I drive in Kolkata where I have to travel through narrow lanes sometimes, and the mirrors are body coloured, both the mirrors got minor scratches in them.

The mirror design of Logan should be changed in order to suit to Indian conditions.
