Poll on extended warranty

Hi All
As we have many Logan owners out here i just wanted to do a poll as to how many of us have gone for extended warranty from mahindra ?

Please mention if you have gone for extended warranty. ( Yes or No )
Also select for which year - 3rd or both 3rd & 4rth year.

I got the extended warranty free for referring a friend to buy a Logan..

i paid for 3 rd year extended warranty

Dhanushan, even i got the 1 yr extended warranty on the Friends Forever offer.

i hav taken 3rd and 4th year extended warranty at rs 10'600.....just to play it cool.....

Considering the cost of the spare parts, it is better to go with the extended warranty. Also, in case there is no extended warranty, you will have to pay for every visit to the workshop. Also, more and more problem starts as the car becomes old. So it is always a better option to go for extended warranty.

If u have extended warranty, u will never get the costly parts changed by the service center. They will try to repair at minimal cost from their side until the warranty is over . This I am saying from my experience during the normal warranty period buddy. So better not put ur legs in their trap.

How many have paid for an extended warrenty and used it

Kind of answers the question then doesnt it. How about putting a little bit of money aside each month in the lets call it "Logan Piggy Bank" and if you dont need it after 2 years you will have a nice bit on the side to have the Timing belt renewed (That costs a lot of Money)

Nice one Stu . I have kept that money (14000 bucks for the extended warranty) aside to buy a LCD TV.

Common sense prevails

i have used the extended warranty...... got the cooling coil of ac leaked just after a month when standard warranty on car was over..

just for sake of knowledge went to local garages that whether it can be mended or not but all in vain as all replied to get the coil changed..

as i knew a renault engineer ..he helped me get extended warranty although time of opting one was over..

its actual cost was around 5500...

i paid 7000 bucks for third year warranty.... ...few more niggles to be handled in coming few days.....so for me..AAL IS WELL .
just watched 3 idiots so used it

I say one should buy it..Simply because you d never save enough....And the problems may come any time and again....Besides, after spending 5.5 lacs, why lose your sleep over 10600 bucks....!!!!!

DO not leave the warranty keep it..... I am kicking my self in the B**T for not doing so.

Can you let us know what kind of heavy expenses you had to bear by not going in for the Ext. warranty?

Well Mahindra people says the ECU has gone corrupt and they cannot re-flash it.

The car is still under observation, the car is still running but some parameters not getting checked.

The ECU comes in 2 parts and they do not have any information for the second part and the first part costs 26,721/-

And it would have been covered in warranty.....

I go for the extended warranty for the 3rd and the 4th year next month.....Better safe than sorry!!!

Keanu..Did you replace your ECU?..how much did you spend in total and how long it took to procure this part?.. Do share your experiences..

I applied for extended warranty through dealer during month of Feb 2011, before the 90 days period expires.

Mahindra had not sent my extended warranty documents. Mailed to customer care some 1.5 weeks back. They replied some one will contact. But one week went by and there was no information.
Then mailed again. this time they woke up fully and calls came in. Finally they have promised me to send the extended warranty document in 10 days time. Let me see if they send or go back to sleep again

i have extended warranty for 3rd year only and that also over now.......

I have 4th year extended warranty.
1) I had the timing belt kit and the water pump changed only days before the base warranty got over. (because of whistling noise)
2) Also the AC cooling coil was changed under base warranty.
3) The Brake callipers and the foundation was changed under base warranty. (because of noise while braking in reverse)
4) All four door locks were changed under base warranty. (rattle)
5) The Brake force compensator was changed under base warranty. (noise on bumps)

If all this was done within 2 years. I won't be surprised if more components need to be changed with more wear n' tear.

Well, I don't have and extended warranty, but I've completed 3.5 yrs + and haven't needed to change any major parts. Thank my luck.

If I manage to steer my vehicle thru till this November, I'd cover the period for which extended warranty is available
